Does anyone know of any articles/websites that describe treatments for disseminated strongyloides? I'm looking for treatment guidelines written by a medical professional or organization that I can give to my doctor. Many articles only talk about uncomplicated strongyloidiasis, but not about the disseminated kind.
As well, does anyone know what the best tests are for strongyloides and if there are any special laboratories which do these tests very well?

The article bellow is out of Duke University.
I know this isn't what you are looking for but I thought that it was a good example of just how serious a disseminated strongyloides infection can be.... especially when when given with steroids.
That article even stated that disseminated strongyloides can induce porphyria.
The article also stated that the Strongyloides steracolis parasite was endemic to the southeastern United States.
Mmmmm.... that statement makes me wonder just how many people are unknowingly infected with this parasite???

This may be more like what you are looking for.
Near the bottom of this article they discuss how to diagnose disseminated strongyloidiasis.
Notice the length of treatment for disseminated strongyloidiasis in the bottom right hand corner of this webpage (this is a table from the link above):

I thought that you might find this interesting.
It appears as though the Gelatin Particle Indirect Agglutination (GPIA) antibody testing method may be superior to the ELISA antibody test for detecting chronic strongyloidasis. I am not sure where a person could get this blood test though.
"As low titers of strongyloid-specific antibodies are noted in hyperinfection along with a low or normal eosinophil count,GPIA is more sensitive than ELISA in detecting the specific immunoglobulin in cases of chronic infection and hyperinfection."
