I have that feeling also. It IS hard to describe. I call it the "fight or flight" feeling. I get it at the strangest times and it never has anything to do with being scared or startled. It just happens. No doctor has been able to tell me what it is, other than possibly a problem with nerve signals in my chest/stomach area. It can be very uncomfortable. Mine started shortly after I started treatment for lyme 7 years ago. NEVER had it prior to this, even though I have had undiagnosed lyme for many, many years. I still have this "feeling" to this day. Maybe someday it will all make sense.

I had those for years, starting in middle school/high school.
I think they are adrenaline dumps, and are connected to CNS infection with Lyme and/or other co-infections that can infect the CNS and the HPA glands (aka the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis).
Your adrenal glands rest on top of your kidneys on either side, which are right by your stomach.
In my experiences, it seems like there is a sudden random signal from my brain to the adrenal glands to pump out a large amount of adrenaline, which can cause a very uncomfortable feeling in the stomach and surrounding areas, and can lead to a rapid heart rate and shaking, anxiety, etc.
You might want to look up adrenaline side effects/symptoms.

I know exactly what you're talking about. I had the same feeling.
I described this feeling in the exact same manner (the rocking back in the chair and coming back up thing) over the phone to Dr. S in Naples, the psychiatrist who authored something like 16 books on Lyme.
When I described this feeling to him he said, "BABESIA" without even missing a beat.

chaps - thank you. thats reassuring as im beginning babs treatment (lightly) and am feeling every symptom ive had in the past 4 months at full force in the last 48 hrs. im on day 3 of babs tx.
I know that cordor, you def are experiencing what im talking about because i explained it to a dr as the fight or flight response.. he looked at me like i was nuts and gave me a script for xanax.
thanks for the replies everyone. i thought it was adrenaline, and it probably is. i guess babesia messes with everything.

Yes it is adrenal fatigue...Please read Stop the Thyroid Madness book.. It explains that the adrenals must be fixed first before the thyroid. The dumping of adrenaline is correct.

Toboein, I know that feeling all too well. Exactly as Nenet described. My one positive test is for WA-1 (Babesia). It's a HORRIBLE feeling that I never had before falling ill. I wish everyday it would leave forever.

sk8ter - care to share how to fix the adrenals?
This is one I have been researching for quite a few weeks... are you talking cleanse? Or something else.
I want to get that book Stop the Thyroid Madness... could you sum it up in a short explanation?
Perhaps it will urge me to go buy it!
