Hello,
Daughter has been having problems swallowing for two weeks. Throat tightness, feeling like she can't swallow, feels like something stuck in throat.
Ent said throat was fine. She is going to have a swallow study .
Last couple of days she said that when she swallows her hands and feet get more numb and feels almost like she is going to pass out.
I am wondering if nerve related, etc? I am so worried. Thanks for any input. I have already looked through many posts and do not seem to find anything on the swallowing with the numbness.

I have similar symptoms. I have numbness in tongue and muscles involved with swallowing. I can still swallow food but just doesn't feel as natural as before. Numbness in hands are also felt after I started Doxy.
I am gonna talk to my LLMD about this. Did some search in this forum. Numbness seemed to be pretty common in lymies.

Dear LymeNet friends, I'm sorry more of you are suffering with these problems.
I'm not a health care pro, just a patient sharing ideas, but here's my take:
Those swallowing problems are a symptom of babesiosis in patients co-infected with neuroborreliosis.
Symptoms of babesiosis from the posters above: - problems swallowing - can still swallow food, but doesn't feel as natural as before - throat tightness - feels like something stuck in throat - ENT duck said throat was fine - feels almost like (s)he is going to pass out
Try to learn more about the growing Babesia epidemic and advocate for prompt treatment. Mepron administered along with a Rx macrolide and pulsed artemisin appears to be the most effective first line of treatment now for the majority of CLD patients who've achieved long-term remission.
Babesia infections can be fatal if left untreated, esp in the elderly and anyone who's had their spleen removed. You need to be aware, so you'll stand firm among ducks, but no need for fear or panic. Thousands of others have lived thru Babs infections. Babesiosis can be controlled with Rx medications, herbs, and supportive therapies.
Important to note: The most successful ILADS-active LLMDs (those with solid records of helping CLD patients achieve long-term remission) recognize that most CLD patients are co-infected, and those with Babesia infections must get babesiosis controlled before the patient can get well.
If a patient has Babesia infecting their red blood cells but never treats it, the patient will not get 100% healthy.
The other issue that keeps patients stuck is chronic inflammation. With untreated babesiosis, chronic inflammation can lead to esophageal cancer. So focus on reducing inflammation.
Wheat gluten, cow-dairy products, and simple sugars all contribute to inflammation in the body.
Many patients can treat Lyme Bb, Babesia, and Bartonella at the same time, but some can't. Everyone's body is unique, and each case of CLD is unique.
Please do a "search" in LymeNet for Babesia threads to learn more and keep sharing your CLD journey so we can support each other.
