I have neuro lyme and am hoping to recover my mental abilities one day. I doubt I'll get fully into neurological recovery until I'm rid of more parasites but I'm starting to think about it.

My LLMD said that they are having good results with LENS therapy (can search using brain mapping).

I've just joined a Yahoo group called biofeedback and here is a response to my query:

Sheryl,
the one thing I can say to all of this is that the people who have had Lyme related cognitive and emotional symptoms have benefited from neurofeedback training. We are now working with 1072nm infrared light to help improve neural functioning and then neurofeedback to help retrain the neurons to normal activity.
Best,
Marvin Berman

Has anyone used these therapies? Any other ideas?

Sheryl

There are a lot of alternative therapies out there. If money is a concern, then I would ask questions.

The key question I would ask is, " What is the total number of lyme patients that have received this therapy, and out of the total number of lyme patients that use this therapy, how many are improved, and how much do they improve?

If they do not give you hard numbers, it means they aren't tracking progess of their therapy, and are therefore susceptable to remembering only the few patients that got an improvement, and not looking at anyone else.

The placebo efffect is around 1-5%, meaning that 1-5% of ANY patient population will respond favoribly to a treatment.

I have done both neurofeedback and biofeedback.

Unfortunately, I can't say either one of them helped me much. I wish I could say it did.

I think the truth of the matter is, infections needs to get under control before using these type of therapies to see positive results.

Perhaps since my infections are under better control, such therapies would help me more now. As before, even if the machines thought I looked calm with biofeedback or neurofeedback, I could feel the exact opposite.

My practicioner did say she seen some improvement by looking at my numbers. I don't know how truthful that statement was. I think she was just trying to be optimistic and give me hope since I didn't really notice any improvement.

However, all that being said, as long as I didn't have to pay out of pocket (I didn't have to pay before), I would try it again. I know more severe cases such as myself can take many more sessions than most people to have a sense of control.

All that being said I never heard of 1072nm infrared light stimulation. Is that using far-infrared on your head? If so, that actually sounds quite interesting to me.
