What is the best type of dentist for removing amalgam fillings? I just saw a dentist who specializes in removing them, but don't know much about him.

How to detox before and after removal? I test for having high levels of mercury.

I tried Zeolite from Nutramedics and couldn't function for 4 days after one pill. I tried that four times and am now looking for something better.

Do a search through this organization for a biological dentist:

http://www.iabdm.org/cms/

Use this link to find an ACAM doctor who does detox for metals:

http://www.acamnet.org/site/c.ltJWJ4MPIwE/b.2772303/k.87A2/PhysicianLink_Find_a_Doctor/apps/kb/cs/contactsearch.asp

I would not advise doing this yourself and research well how best to go about this. It can open up a Pandora's box of hell, if it's not done probably or by someone who is not qualified.

I found my dentist through this site:
http://www.iaomt.org

I bought the book "Amalgam Illness" by Andrew Cutler through his site (it was the least expensive that I could find) http://amalgamillness.com/

And I have been reading a lot at the Autism-Mercury forum over at yahoo groups.

I just ordered a hair test through Doctor's Data using Direct Labs...

I have not been able to find a doctor who believes in heavy metal detoxing/chelation/ or the role that it can play in chronic illnesses.

I tried the acam site and there is one integrative doctor within 100 miles of me... and he is not accepting new patients. I have sent him a letter asking him to just write an order to draw my blood periodically, I don't know if he will accept.

May health be with you!

Toxic mold was suppressing our immune systems, causing extreme pain, brain fog and magnifying symptoms. Four days after moving out, the healing began.

Abxnomore and Momlyme,

Many thanks! I have checked all 4 sites and found a qualified DDS and will try to interloan the book from my public library.

Still looking for a detox plan, although the DDS said Waiora natural cellular defense is good. He also mentioned OSR, a lypopluic (sp?) chealator of heavy metals, as well as Demer-tox. (I am seeing an RN experienced in treating lyme who practices electrodermal screenin; she recommended Zeolite.)

Any comments on those products?

Chlorella tabs was/is my choice and it seems to do the job.
(I also take Chlorella daily for both nutritional and binding capabilities as well.)

If you choose to use it, it's recommended to build up dosages 2 weeks prior, and swish it around in your mouth then spit out RIGHT after you have the work done ("right after", as in "in the bldg's restroom" :-)) to mop up any mercury in your mouth.

Also, large doses of Vita C right after. Many folks do IV C, but due to monetary stuff, I just took lots of oral. (Don't up the C beforehand though b/c it counteracts local anesthesia.)

The fellow who runs DAMS International says that most of these books that are out there on the topic are outdated.

He says that in the past 10 years, newer and safer chelation methods have emerged that deserve serious consideration. You may want to Google "DMPS Backfire" to find out about some of the dangers of IV chelation.

DAMS International is a non-profit dedicated to creating awareness and disseminating info on the dangers of amalgam fillings and how to deal with amalgam illness. Just google it and go to their site. They send information for free and if give them a donation, they will send you a monthly newsletter and lots of useful information.

I think they're doing great work over there. They will also for free send you a list of amalgam-safe dentists in your area.
