200 mg a day just started Mon. I herxed so bad yesterday I am thinking of cutting back for a day or two.. Until I can find a doctor that is familiar with lyme, thought I had one but don't.

Oh, I hate this ...I think it was herxing or a darn reaction..

I wonder how many people are on high doses and what is the highest dose a doctor will give you?

I was herxing bad but now I'm almodt at 400 and am wondering if they'll go higher if you think you need it... though, I guess they could just suggest a stronger drug.

So far, even though doxy has made me herx before (recently), it's the only abx that hasn't been total hell on my body. Funny how things can change in just a few days, too. On the weekend I was having a hard time, now I'm almost at full doze (400 per day).

Thanks for answering me... I hope your herxing stops. I relate to that so much. I've been in treatment since August and its been one herxing roller coaster after another.

I took 200 twice daily, so a total of 400 per day. It was not the only drug I was on, I took combos.

I take 200mg twice a day. It's been good to me so far. I've been on it for about a month and a half. I take nystatin and probiotics to keep yeast in check though...

I've been on 100 mg 2X/day for a couple weeks and experienced some herxes (unlike Amox where I did not have any herx reaction). I just moved up today to 150 mg 2X/day and plan to get to 200 mg 2X/day when my stomach adjusts. Dr. B's guidelines suggest that up to 600 mg/day are appropriate, but I would think that could be quite hard on the stomach.

Thanks everyone! I'm just so relieved this seems to be working now without a terrible herx.

200-300 mg.'s a day. I want to try to get up to 400 mgs. 's.

At first 200mg.s felt like death was knocking on my door but now I can take 300mg.s a couple days a week and feel okay.

My LLMD said higher dose better (of course) but also okay if I cannot tolerate the 400 mg's because the lower dosages will work but it will just take longer...

geo. You are on the same combo my doc is putting me on. I am already taking the doxy, about to add zithro, and then will add plaquenil. How is it working out for you? How long have you been taking these meds?

Going to start 200mg a day in a few weeks (either 100 twice a day, or 200 at once, I'm unsure yet). Hoping to eventually get back up to 400mg a day, though. Also on Rifampin.
