I know many of you are pretty ill w/ Lyme/co infections and exercise may be far from your mind. I am currently on Rifampin and Doxy (only a couple of weeks on Rifampin and a few days on doxy). I will be adding Flagyl into the mix probably on Monday.
So far I am still able to exercise and wonder if there are any risks that I should be mindful of w/ this combo of drugs while be physically active? I am truly hoping that I can continue to exercise throughout this treatment. I wasn't told of any restrictions by my dr.'s but wondered if anyone has any feedback--did you feel worse/better w/ exercise? Any risks? Thanks!

Just be careful and listen to your body. I used to be a professional runner-- and when I was training, if you went on abx for anything, you would always take time off, because your body would not be able to recover the way it usually does. Exercise is GREAT if you have lyme, and you can do it. Just go slow. maybe take an extra day off a week, and see how it goes. Just dont push yourself-- its SOOOOO not worth it. One day youll be better and then you wont have an excuse to take it easy :-) PS-- i am on Rif, Biaxin and Bicilin and do Pilates and weight lift 4 times a week + walking the other days. But if its a bad week, I dont beat myself up about taking an extra day off.

AnnaOD20 - I have been exercising lightly whenever I can. I actually got into Yoga during treatment. It's a great way to release all the stress! Like WhitneyS, I wish I could spin too, but I'm afraid I'd collapse! Probably more from being out of shape than from the lyme! If you can stick with it, that is GREAT!!! I'm convinced exercise & diet really aid in recovering from lyme.
WhitneyS - I'm on the same abx as you (rif, biaxin and bicillin)...I started rif and bicillin three weeks ago. So far, my head feels very clear but I still have wooziness. How long have you been on this regimen and any advice/info?

I have been on Biaxin for several months (5?), Rif about 2 months, and Bicillin only about 3-4 weeks. My head isnt feeling any clearer...I think I maybe herxing from the Bicillin cause my brain fog has been a lot worse the last 2 weeks. Hopefully its just a herx-- Cause i dont know what else to take for brain fog!

I thought that exercising was good for Lyme treatment, but have found out very quick that I feel much worse when I do exercise. I don't know what to do!
I was just recently diagnosed (clinical) with lyme by my PCP (also a ID doc) and I am in my third week of oral doxy.
I was misdiagnosed with Meniers Disease when my symptoms started approx. four months ago.
I tested negative for Lyme, but was taking prednisone (prescribed by an ENT) at the time.
Anyhow, back to the topic of exercise, should I push myself to exercise more and grin and bear the intensified symptoms? Thanks for any advise!! Better health to all!
