This is a relatively new "symptom" for me and I'm not exactly sure how to describe it or what to make of it.

I suppose I feel like I am choking/gagging. Like there is a brick sitting in my throat. At times, it becomes difficult to swollow certain foods/vitamins.

At the same time, the sides of my neck feel constricted. Not stiff, but more like the veins that run up the sides of me neck are expanding and cutting off my air supply. This is the scariest part.

My collar bone feels sore and there is a strange sensation between the bones. Precisely where my scar is from my thyroid surgery--just to give you an idea of the area, as I don't think it's anything related to the prior surgery.

This is not a constant "symptom", though it does last anywhere from hours to days. Then it almost "releases" and the areas I mentioned feel fine.

Has anyone experienced anything like this? Any clue what it might be? It can be frightening!

This is exactly what I'm experiencing with Babesia treatment at this moment. You described it to the tee.

Babesia, eh? I'll definitely look into that. Thanks, seek.

A friend of mine was like this a lot....had to eat only soft foods like oatmeal. She lost a lot of weight. It's gotten better with enterovirus treatment. See: www.enterovirusfoundation.org

Best, Timaca

i have struggled with something similar, feeling as though there is something huge sitting in my throat. I did not exactly have trouble swallowing, but always felt as though I might, if that makes sense.

A thyroid scan and scoping later led me to a reflux diagnosis. GERD meds and watching what I ate have definitely helped. I was sceptical at first but should not have been.

I also think the sensation triggered some anxiety that either made the reflux worse or caused me to tighten muscles, making everything worse yet again.

Just a thought.

I don't have a thyroid but much of the sensation is defintiely in that area. I also treated for acid reflux (1 round of Prevacid) and it did nothing to help.

Along with what I described above, I was not able to lay down last night...felt like my head was weighing down with quick sand and like I was pass out if I didn't sit up.

A "loopy" feeling also presented and I was up most of the night. This morning, my neck still feels the same and I still feel as if there is something in my throat. [Frown]
