Hello everyone. In the past few days my symptoms have worsened considerably. My breathing and chest symptoms are back, I am constantly dizzy my vision is weird, the computer/focusing my eyes hurts and I also have some chest pain.
Today I decided to go to a dog class for 6 hours because I paid a lot of money for the seminar. I was worried about allergies, but at worst I have a swollen throat and feel a little tired. I did OK at my class today, however I re dislocated my jaw (I have a special retainer in)
My throat is swollen, I am having a hard time opening my mouth, the muscles in my throat/neck are quite tight and I am in a little bit of pain......
Anyways, now that you are all up to speed, I would really love some help. We live way out in the middle of nowhere, about 30 minutes away from any hospital which makes me so much more nervous.
At first I started to feel really hot, like a burning. It could also be cold, it is hard to tell. I am trying very very hard not to hyperventilate. As usual, my muscles started to twitch/jerk and I felt insanely dizzy. Now, about 30 minutes later I am not doing very well at fighting back the panic. . My hands are really numb and cold and sweating and I feel like it is very hard to breath. I am not sure what to do. It does not seem like it is going to go away soon and once my parents go to bed I will be all alone. Right now I don't think I can sleep and don't even want to lie down.
I don't know if this is actually a panic attack or something else, but it is really terrify and it is taking everything I have to fight it off. Any help would be greatly appreciated. From what I understand panic attacks are not dangerous, but that knowledge is not helping any,
Thanks!
-Draba
I don't do very well with problems affecting my throat.

It's easy to allow panic to set in when you don't understand what is happening to you. This is an illness that presents with all kinds of different symptoms. I do alot of self talk when I start to feel uncertain about what is happening.
I have been dealing with this upwards of 20 years and know that if I understand that the feelings do pass and the fear is usually worse than the physical symptoms it puts things in perspective.
Find a really comfortable spot, stay warm, and try to distract yourself.. If you have chamomile tea make yourself a cup.
Remember that you're not alone. We're all dealing with this and most times it does get better.
If you have some swelling, maybe a warm compress would help..

Let's get one thing straight, right off the bat. Dogs are awesome. Just awesome.
Are you on antibiotics? Your symptoms sound like a combination of Babs and Bart. Did you treat for co-infections?
Can you take anything for a panic attack? I had my worst anxiety during Bart treatment. I took a Klonipin 2x/day during that phase of treatment. It helped tremendously. Honestly, I couldn't have survived without it.
What about sleep meds? Do you take them? Do you need them? I am an emotional wreck when I don't sleep.
Panic attacks are not dangerous, per se, but they should not be allowed to run their course.
Natural options are valerian, hops, passionflower, L-theanine, GABA. Chamomile tea.

If you are still feeling like your throat is swollen please ask your parents to take you to the ER asap.
Sending hugs your way.

Draba, When you hyperventilate, you exhale too much carbon dioxide, which lowers your blood acidity. This can start a feedback loop, and it's difficult to stop it.
Try rebreathing into a paper lunch bag for about five minutes. When you rebreathe the air that you just exhaled, you breathe in more carbon dioxide, and this eventually will restore the correct level in your bloodstream.
You'll be able to tell that it's working when your respiration rate returns to normal.
If your muscles are tense and tight, and you have twitching, you may be low in magnesium. Do you have any supplements on hand?
The body's cells need magnesium for all of the enzyme processes. The Lyme bacteria use it up, and this causes all kinds of problems for us.
Many of the symptoms of Lyme Disease are due to low magnesium, including anxiety, depression, panic attacks, muscle twitching and spasms and TMJ problems.
You can eat foods high in magnesium: Red meat Almonds and other nuts Beans....baked beans, refried beans, bean soup, kidney beans, bean burritoes.
Some people crave chocolate due to low magnesium. Do not drink milk with the magnesium, as the calcium can bind with it.
Please let us know how you're doing, I'll check back.

I will pray for you. I hope this passes quickly!
I understand the fear, anxiety and panic feelings. The symptoms with Lyme are scary and mysterious, and it is easy to feel afraid when you don't know what is happening to your body.
It helps me when I focus on the Lord and the fact that He knows what I am going through and He is taking care of me, even when I don't understand.

Thanks for the help everyone. I am feeling a little better for the moment. My jaw is pretty bad, even worse than before and my throat is still swollen but I am not panicking anymore.

I used to have panic attacks all the time, but somewhere in my treatment it got better. I have a really hard time remembering all of my treatment and what specifically helped what, but I think the antibiotics for Bartonella helped.
Anyways, it's not often that I come across someone who sounds like my age. I DO go to college, but it's _really_ hard and sometimes I think I'd be better off without it (less stress, y'know?). Glad you have an animal to keep you company
IM me sometime if you just want someone to talk to.

New sunspot 1149, circled below, is crackling with C-class solar flares. This spot didn't exist barely a day ago, but now it is a growing sprawl more than 100,000 km across.
The magnetic field of sunspot 1149 is jumbled, with positive (+) polarity pressing against negative (-) polarity in many places. This could set the stage for magnetic reconnection and solar flares; NOAA forecasters estimate a 10% chance of strong M-class eruptions during the next 24 hours.
...we just came out of a high speed solar wind stream, too...

Regarding the previous post about the solar flares. Panic attacks actually have more to do with the changes in the astrology charts. with that new one inserted, the brain chemistries are finding it hard to adjust.
Come on people, you can believe in your own "alternative" ideas about why we are all sick, but did that post really offer any relevance to assisting this poor person suffering with panic attacks? Really? This stuff is what keeps the lyme community from being taken seriously and reduces our credability.
By the way if you haven't figured it out already, the beginning of my post was not my belief, but has as much credability as that post about the solar flares.
To the original poster, I hope you feel better. I also suffer from panic attacks and the klonopin was also what helped me, especially if I took it before bed. Also a little help with rationalization. While I couldn't control what upset me, I could sometimes calm myself down emotionally and physically by talking myself through what I thought was creating the situation. Best of luck to you.

I talked to Draba in the chat room that night, and found out that she had not yet started taking the magnesium that her doctor had advised.
I also explained how to do a hot compress to her jaw, to help relieve the muscle spasms.

Sure does sound like babesia rather than hyperventilation to me. In my opinion, the dizziness and feeling hot confirm it. And this can be accompanied with extreme depression and anxiety.
You need to see a really good LLMD. You absolutely cannot think your way through it to find any relief. What your mind can do is remind you it is a physical illness causing it and you need treatment.
I love dogs too. I bet your puppy was/is very concerned about you. Dogs know intuitively what people brush off.
