Hi guys, Just want to make sure I am doing the igenex correctly. I am getting my blood drawn tomorrow afternoon and sending it off the same day. Will the lab techs know what to do? Am I supposed to show them this instruction sheet for the serum and whole blood requirements cause I don't understand it. I am doing the complete lyme panel 6050. From what I understan, I think they are supposed to maybe spin and separate the serum that is put in the red tube? It really doesn't say anything for the lavender tube? I am assuming they are just supposed to send the blood in that one. Also, from what i understand they are supposed to get .5 ml serum and 2 ml whole blood? Am I understanding this. on the test requisition form, am I supposed to fill out the ICD9 codes or is my dr. supposed to do that. Where would I get those codes? thanks, vdean

Be sure to read the instructions and talk to the lab tech about them.
The Igenex kit has the packing materials, to send it back to the lab via FedEx, postpaid. Once the tubes are ready, you can even do that part of it yourself.
I ended up taking the tube back home, checking all the paperwork, packing it, and phoning FedEx to arrange for a pick-up. My doc's office kept saying, "We've never done this before."

There is instructions on what to spin.
Just to be safe-I would call FedEx and have them pick it up from your own hands...
If it sits and clots beyond use, for some reason does not get sent off it is worthless and you still pay....
Call Them and ask for pickup times/etc. And give it to them directly...JMO.

I've had no problem leaving my kits at Labcorp. Just go in the morning, before their Fedex pickup. They'll draw the blood, spin it down, and send it for a nominal fee.

Anytime you ever have a question about procedure, it's best to contact the lab/doctor themselves. First see instructions on website, then call if you need more detail.
