** This is a bit graphic for some of you. But, since I believe it could pertain to my infection and this is a medical questions forum, I hope everyone can appreciate the nature of this discussion. I hope anyone who can contribute will do so without worry of embarrassment for the sake of full and total healing. **

Now, I'm curious from any of you guys, if you have any kind of erectile dysfunction. On certain days, non in particular, I notice a clear difference in the strength and size of my Tomahawk (just having fun). I do have circulation issues; possibly related to Babesia. This has not been evaluated.

More curiously, right around the time I started having symptoms from Lyme as a teenager, I noticed a few changes with Mr. Hawk. I developed, what I researched and now believe to be fordyce spots.

If you don't know what that is, they're described as tiny little raised spots under the skin. They're also said to be harmless and non-infectious. Otherwise, nothing but a visual nuisance.

But, I also noticed a tiny red area that looks like a very small ulcer around the head of the penis. I've been tested on numerous occasions, and no doctor has ever thought of this to be of any concern. It isn't very visible either.

What spawned this discussion was an article I ran across that says DOGS with Babesia have visible penile inflictions, and it's listed as a way to diagnosis dogs with Babesia infection.

Here's a site listed, "How to beat Babesia" with the article. Unfortunately, it's only direction for dogs, but has many similarities to human treatment.

http://www.johnkoerner.org/SportingDogBlog/babesia.html

I have no evidence that suggests humans have the same symptoms, but I can't say for certain since most are way to uptight to discuss little imperfections in this area.

In the end, what I'm hoping I'll find is that it's somehow related, and that total eradication of this multi-complex infection may bring resolution to these minor symptoms, amongst my laundry list of bigger problems.

If you can relate, shout it out!

I saw a picture yesterday of a Babesia "rash". Actually, it was little red bumps, maybe the size of a pinhead. I'm not sure if this is what you mean by fordyce spots.

Good link on the dogs. I have two hunting dogs but they are our pets since we don't really hunt.

I read this link for curiousity sakes for my husband. As they say, knowledge is power.

Good luck with your package. You might want to keep it wrapped when you go out. Let's hope Babs treatment takes care of these/this issue.

I would suggest you look into magnesium deficiency for circulation issues if you haven't already.

I've never had any rash and I have 20+ years of chronic Lyme. I do take Indian knockoff Viagra for intermittent ED and only 1/4 pill eliminates that as an issue.

Well, hubby has had 2 priapisms (required ER visits) during babesia treatment over the last 10 years. That is a known complication of malaria -- so I would say that babs could definitely be involved in your issues.

And as strange as it sounds hubby has had lots of weird reactions to IV antibiotics -- everything from hysterical laughter to spontaneous erections -- this is while the IV is actually being administered.

Hubby takes a DHEA supplement. Has tested low on testosterone from time to time. DHEA is considered the master hormone and the body can convert that into whatever hormone it needs if the liver is functioning correctly.

I honestly think that you can't totally correct hormone imbalances from these infections totally until the infection is gone.

I never had visible maladies or problems getting things up before or during treatment (still on treatment 2.5 years). BUT I did have several instances where my tomahawk jumped the gun, if you know what I mean.

After several months of treatment that problem went away and never came back.

Some issues with control, and also urination issues for what that's worth, but nothing like what you're describing there.

Well, more responses than I thought! Thanks for sharing everyone. I'll be starting Babesia treatment soon enough, and if I notice changes, I will report back.

I'm sorry you feel that way, onbam. It's so controversial that Lyme is transmitted sexually, I'm not going to let that stop me from enjoying myself. I'll just have to be cautious and wear protection.

But, who am I kidding, most days I hardly feel like cooking my own food...let alone wanting to...
