Kind of new here. Won't see LLMD til 2/5/11. But ID doctor has had me on Doxy for two months. Labs done at Mayo Clinic (I now know better!) but since 2005 diagnosed + Lyme and Parvo? (I just saw the records - had no idea until now) And diagnosed both positive then negative more recently. Got Doxy script refilled today, will being on doxy all this time interfere with future testing done by LLMD next month?

I don't think Doxy is helping but yesterday read a post here about daily severe hive-like rash might be a Herx reaction? Rash became consistantly every evening about a month ago. Praying that it could be a Herx? Maybe Doxy is helping a little & thinking aout taking 200 mg 2x per day instead of the 100 mg 2x/day I've been doing for last two months? Or do nothing until I see the LLMD? Tempted to just up the dose but would feel better if I got opinions from more experienced people, such as all of you, first.
If rash could be herx?
Thks,

Beagle

I've no idea if it will interfere with future testing--someone else will be able to chime in.

In regards to dosage, it's my understanding that 200 mg of doxy is not enough. I'm on 400 mg (2- 50mg, 4x daily) and I think this is the standard dose done by a llmd. Ask your llmd on the 5th.

Oh, I definitely think a rash could be part of a herx. However, I'm not anywhere as experienced as most around here. Fairly new, myself!

Best of luck, Beagle!

If you up your dosage or continue with the doxy... please be careful if you are experiencing a hive-like reaction!!!

Most LLMD's and Igenex recommend being OFF antibiotics for at least 10 days prior to testing.

MamaMelvis,
If you take Doxy 4x/day, isn't it tough trying to space food & vitimans 1 to 2 hours apart from the Doxy? Or do you take it with food and or supplements? Maybe it's not as important as I think to space it out away from everything else I'm ingesting?
Lymetutu,
Thanks for the advise. Kind of scared to stop the Doxy though. Last time I stopped for a couple of days and spiked a fever and felt worse. Now I really don't know what to do. :/

It is hard to space everything out, yes. I just recently started this dose of doxy so once my system is a bit more used to the new med, I'll just be taking it twice a day (400 mg total).

I soemtimes do take it with my vitamins if I miss a dose at my scheduled time. Guess I never really thought about it. I generally take my doxy with my nystatin. Be sure to take your probiotics a few hours after antibiotics. My thyroid meds are taken at bedtime.

You'll get the hang of it! I'm still trying to figure everything out, lol.
