My son (16) who was diagnosed with Lyme last summer and has been on oral Doxy ever since, has been having some weird "occular-migrane" disturbances. He looses vision for some time. Last episode, lost vision for an hour and half.

Just got results of MRI yesterday- which shows arachnoid cyst and arachnoid granulation.

Just a coincidince?? or related to Lyme?
Has anyone else had these, and if so what treatment plan did you follow?

Also- need to find a LLLMD Neurologist.

any help is much appreciated! [Smile]

Wow, my MRI came back saying the same thing.

I was told it was nothing to worry about by 2 neurologists. I never really trusted neurologists. Now I wonder.

Sixteen? Does he use a cell phone a lot? If so, I would be more inclined to blame any problems related to this arachnoid cyst on that, more so than Lyme.

Even if the cyst wasn't caused by his cell phone use per say, with all the talk coming from doctors in other countries about the problems these microwave-emitting devices can cause (brain tumors...and my ex had one removed from his cell phone use, same side of his head that he'd hold his phone), I'm sure using a cell phone isn't helping the situation.

If he uses a cell phone/cordless phone, which side of his head does he hold it against, and which side is the cyst on?

Our dr seemed to be really worried about them?? thinking that they are having something to do with the fact that he looses his vision.

I guess if you dont have any symptoms that you have nothing to worry about?? which would be a good thing! haha... cause we have enough to worry about with just the Lymes!

My son has had n arachnid cyst with no symptoms since he was 8. He did have Lyme end was treated for 3 years. He's 15 now,off Meds for 3 years, probably still has cyst. Took him to neurologist to find out that he has cyst and the said 4 out of 5 boys have them. I've left him alone since he hasn't complained, but he did have headaches when I took him for the scan, went away shortly and he's been ok. Don't know Lyme related, he's fine and almost 16. Just cleared from dr. J. Last month.

My son has massive, constant headaches with lyme. He also has blood vessels burst in his eye occasionally. He never had an MRI... it is probably from the pressure.

He had to stop antibiotics because of low WBC. Immune system is shot because a dumb doctor gave him prednisone for what is in his chart as "normal gout" This was after a positive lyme test with that doctor.

Many here have lyme have cysts in their heads and spines and I would say treat the lyme. The cysts will resolve.

Not sure what doctor you are seeing, hope you don't mind if I send you a PM with our pediatrician's info.

Treat the lyme - look for other possible co-infections.

***No steroids for swelling (just in case some doctor suggests it, it's a bad idea).

--------------------
May health be with you!

Toxic mold was suppressing our immune systems, causing extreme pain, brain fog and magnifying symptoms. Four days after moving out, the healing began.

This may or may not be related in this particular case but is still relevant to everyone who is even near a cell phone.

It's very important not to have cell phones (especially the chargers) in the bedroom.

Autumn '10, on BookTV (which is the C-Span channel on the weekends) - Dr. Davis told of a young woman who had an ongoing severe headache and it turned out to be caused by her cell phone.

The lecture had some amazing images (MRI or CT scan, or similar). The proof is in the images - the heat/radiation really invades the blood brain barrier, and targets soft tissue of the head.

You can watch that here:

I had plenty of symptoms, the neuro ducks thought I needed to go to the psychiatrist, and the psychiatrists thought I needed to see a neuro.

It was an infinite loop of frustration.

I believe the cysts are a direct result of the body trying to repair/protect its self.

I would want to be treated for all types of parasites never the less.
