Hi everybody,
If you have the time and energy and know of a good doctor or doctors in your area who are good at treating Lyme disease and related diseases,

scroll to the bottom of this page and get yourself over to "Seeking a Doctor" and answer some appeals by neighbors who are there seeking your help.

It is so easy to send someone a private message there by clicking on the little envelope at the top of their post.

You can't imagine how good it will make you feel!
Ann - OH

Agreed. I will try to help out but every member should make a habit of going to "seeking a doctor" each time they log on to help those in desperate need.

Surely if you have a good LLMD you can answer and help those who are seeking help in your geographic area.

Thanks [Smile]

and she doesn't mean "just today!" ...

Go there once a day and see if you can help out!

Someone needs help for NC right now. I don't have that information myself.

Yes, that's what I mean..... every day as often as you can! Many pleas for help are going unanswered or not answered timely because there are not enough people to help out.

Let's make this a priority and a community effort.

Even if you don't know of specific LLMDs, you might post some links to get them on their way.

Please copy and paste these links to your computer file for easy access and - please also feel free to copy and paste for a reply exactly as is - or however you wish to alter or with additional links:

==================================

I hope you get some good specific suggestions, in the meantime, these links may help guide your search:

When you get a doctor's name, be sure to check about their being what we call ILADS-educated or ILADS-minded. Talk to your local support groups, call the doctor's office and talk with the office manager about the doctor's affiliations and experience so that you might find a "good fit" for your particular case.

I'm offering help but I've been told (by someone else) that I am no longer permitted to post links in "Seeking" other than the Newbie or Quick Links and ONE other.

Ann-OH,

You asked for help with this thread.

What did you have in mind by "help" ? Guess it would help to clarify. No educational links? No answers specific questions?

Keebler, because your information is so helpful, we were wanting you to look at the stickies at the top of the seeking a doctor forum and give us ideas on how to make them more helpful to newbies.

That way in your posts in seeking a doctor, you can link to the thread at the top of the forum so that you don't have to post all that information in every thread there.

It will be easier for you. And it will be easier for anyone reading that forum if they don't have to read through all that valuable, but lengthy information.

This is supposed to be a positive suggestion for all involved. Your information is so helpful that we'd like it at the top. It's more generalized information, so doesn't need to be in specific threads. This suggestion isn't meant to take away the value of the information you provide. If anything, it points out how valuable it is.

And in answer to your question of what type of help is needed. We need everyone seeing an LLMD to go there daily and take a look to see if anyone near you is asking for information.

You can send that person by PM (and make note in the thread that a pm was sent) information regarding your doctor and any other doctor in the area you've seen.

If everyone looked there once a day for fewer than five minutes, newbies would have the best information on specific LLMD's possible.

So, in the individual threads, specific information about LLMD's would be given (by PM, of course). And at the top, general information would be available.

I'd like to ask all of our members to please stop by "Seeking a Doctor" as often as you can to respond to those who are requesting help finding an LLMD.

They need your first- hand experiences with LLMD's, especially the LLMD's who are helping you the most.

Your experiences and help will far outweigh, as valuable as they are, receiving an LLMD list for a particular state.

Let's try to make this a real community effort but getting everyone involved in reaching out to those who need our help.

Thanking everyone in advance for your help and support. [group hug]

No, she has taken a break since before the holidays. She did it relentlessly for well over a year and a half.

We need all members to be active in "Seeking a Doctor". Lists do not replace first-hand experience with an LLMD. Certainly, most of you can offer some of your experiences with the LLMD's you have seen.

I'll be keeping this post constantly at the top.

Please go daily and check in and help where you can. There's not enough people currently to help and we need everyone's help on a steady basis.

Excellent point! If everyone got involved and merely PMed their current LLMD, assuming they were happy with him or her, then everyone would be getting first-hand information and requests would get answered more timely.

That's not to say that the folks in "seeking" do not do a great job, but a list is a list. A PM from someone actually seeing a particular LLMD is entirely different.

In that way between lists and personal accounts directly from members they will have more information to make choices and hopefully avoid wasting time with the wrong doctor as so many of us have done

That would be so great if we could keep people from ending up in the office of a dr who is not that effective.

I have been trying to keep up with all the lists. I kinda got thrown into this by myself. I was only meant to help.

I am doing my best to get to the lists ASAP. I'm sorry for those who feel like I am not getting to it fast enough or whatever.

Nothing can replace first hand experience with a specific doctor though. I've had many people ask me about specific doctors and I can't answer them because I have no personal experience with them.

If someone could send me an updated list for the Northern Virginia, DC, Maryland metro area, I could watch out for those posts, and send out PMs.

When I first came here, someone sent me a PM with names of doctors, cities, phone numbers. I included lots of comments about the specific doctors. If anyone can PM me about DC metro area experiences, I would be happy to put it all together and use it to reply to seekers.

I've had many people ask me about specific doctors and I can't answer them because I have no personal experience with them."

Every one, please participate in "Seeking a Doctor" daily and help out by sharing your first-hand experiences.

New posts come in continuously throughout the day and there are many each day. Many requests have very specific needs that a list cannot address, only first-hand knowledge.

Let's all pitch in and make participating in "Seeking a Doctor" a true group/community effort. [group hug]

Abx, and Littlebit,

Need feedback on Dr. J. in PA. Got anything.
I have a friend who thinks he's good. This friend, however, was very chronic lyme when he first saw Dr. J.

Thx. [confused]

I am doing my best to get to the lists ASAP. I'm sorry for those who feel like I am not getting to it fast enough or whatever.

Nothing can replace first hand experience with a specific doctor though. I've had many people ask me about specific doctors and I can't answer them because I have no personal experience with them.

You are doing a great job, littlebit! We appreciate what you are doing! We're hoping everyone will begin helping out now!

Good to be here. Just so very busy -- still working several jobs. I've been away from Lymenet for awhile, but I am willing to help where and when I can.

Will be away from a computer for the next week. Going hiking.

Hugs to you, TuTu!!
