Ok , i am 11.5 weeks preg. I see.a good llmd.who is treating me. I am a high risk pregnancy for several reasons, including my diabetes. For this reason i see a perinatplogist. Things so far have been good. But today she brought up the abx i am on. She said she can not find and medical documentation that supports the use of abx during my preg. This is going to be a problem b/c she wants me to see id at the hospital! You know how thats gonna go.. i wont do it.
So if anyone has time, please post links to suppportive literature that i can give to her. I feel like she will listen if she has the data. What a pain!

- I'm not sure if pregnancy and risk to baby is directly addressed in any of the articles here but they may still be of help: ----------------
The Case For Chronic Infection: Evidential persistence of Borrelia species post antibiotic exposure in vivo and in vitro.
- by Michael D. Parent (2010)
- 82 pages
* This article documents the available evidence supporting both the existence of Chronic Lyme Disease, as well as the persistence of the infection despite antibiotic therapy. The abstracts are available on U.S. Government's Public Medical Database [pubmed.gov] -

I would just tell her that you are already seeing someone who you want to work with for Lyme, that she's welcome to call him, that you're not going to go for a second opinion with an id doctor because you're happy with your current doctor. Then just leave it at that.

Agree with Sixgoofykids. If she needs info on lyme tell her to call your LLMD.
Its her job to tend to your pregnancy and your LLMD's job to take care of the lyme. Leave it at that.

I agree with six. Also, obgyn's are a dime a dozen, you can always find a new one that is more open minded.
I have done with six mentioned with my ob during my pregnancy and with my son's pediatrician until I can find a better option.
"My son has a treating physician to oversee his lyme treatment, so all we need from you is his standard pedicatric care." End of story.

There was also a very long Lyme chapter in the book "Infectious Diseases of the Fetus and Newborn Infant" but it is not in the latest edition. Suspicious that the bad guys influenced the removal of this chapter because it was one of the few lengthy and very convincing medical sources of lyme information.
If you can get a previous edition of the book, that would be good. Some hospital libraries have it, but I am guessing they might have bought the newest edition.
The Lyme Disease Foundation used to have reprints of the chapter, for a fee, not sure whether they still have any and what the status of the foundation is.
Isn't there a lyme in pregnancy forum on yahoo? Maybe someone there has printed info.
