ive been treating lyme for 15 months. was doing very well in oct, nov. december jan not so hot. 2 1/2 weeks ago i started getting migrating (moving) headaches that were brief for the most part. now i have light headed disoriented light dizziness. i also have mild nausea, enough to make me feel like im going to puke but never come close to puking. i did a full babeia panel with darklight, everything it cost me like $1000, and it was totaly negative. ive also never had symptoms like these.
is it possible i have babesia with no prior symptoms? are these symptoms similar to babesia? ive never heard nausea being a symptom of it.

I too am interested in this question. I think I have heard that once you knock down one infection, another can rear its ugly head.

I'm curious about this one too. I treated Lyme for 2 years and just got off meds. Now I test positive for babesia and I'm getting symptoms. I'm definately no expert, but I'm thinking it's possible.

Nausea and stomach pain are common in Babesia.
Yes, it is possible to have Babesia even though the symptoms were not present before now.
Like Lyme and Bart, Babesia is not often found in the peripheral circulation, so it is easy to miss in a blood smear. If it is found in large numbers in circulation, that indicates a more severe infection.
It is a red blood cell parasite, so it stays in the bloodstream, but it tends to sequester itself in capillaries in the organs. Unfortunately for us, it loves our brains.
You should do a round of antimalarials to see how you respond.

I did not have significant symptoms of babesia the first two years of treatment. Then it came to the forefront and I tested positive for it. I never had a fever or drenching sweats.

Nausea can definitely be a symptom of Babesiosis. I have had horrendous nausea from it.
Dizziness, lightheadedness, and headaches are also symptoms from Babesiosis.

yep! I can relate to nefferdun! Two years of treatment with zero babs symptoms. Now, the symptoms are so bad I think they're literally going to kill me sometimes. I have to stay on meds at this point to control it.
But, I have no proof that it is babs or some other protozoal infection.

Babs - when I relapse it can happen within an hour.
I recall 3 years ago I felt pretty darn good. I went on a trip with the family for a week and, when I got home started unpacking.
I was walking down the hallway towards my room with a suitcase and suddenly, my eyes rolled back in my head and I dropped to the floor like I had no muscles.
This was day 1 of a complete babesiosis relapse that got extremely bad, to the point I thought I would die.
Mepron/zith/plaquenil/artemisinin brought me back to life. HUGE difference. I actually have very unusual babesiosis symptoms and I never sweat. I am still amazed that I was able to self-diagnose, switch LLMDs (the one I was with wasn't convinced my strange symptoms were babs), and get the treatment I needed.
It was all gut instinct, but it proved correct. By the way, your symptoms do sound like babs to me.

Lymelady - You must be my long lost twin.
I relapsed for Babesia last fall. It wasn't quite as dramatic, but I just kept thinking "this is Babs."
I got on antimalarials right away, but the dosages weren't high enough to provoke die-off. My symptoms went away, but when I went off the meds, I relapsed HARD.
Now I'm on good ol' Mepron, Zith, Mino, herbs and herxing away.
You have to get on top of Babs ASAP. It replicates quickly, and you can really go downhill.

I'm wondering if Babs is my problem. I was on a Babs protocol, went off meds a couple days. Caught a "virus" 9 days ago and can't seem to shake it. My doc wanted me off the Babs meds to give my body a break. Now I'm scared to move my head too quickly. My brain feels disconnected from my skull. Given the choice, I'd sleep all day. I don't think this is some virus at all.

I too have lyme bart, babs, etc, you name it. You treat one and then the next one just comes back. It's like some kind of sick wheel.
I've been treating aggresively for 3 years, did the mepron, art, etc for babs.
This time, I used coartem-7 days on-2 weeks off and then another 7 days.
Worked wonders- I've had these diseases a long, long time-working on bart now, this one just won't go away. I wondering when my kidneys and liver will just give out from all the rifampin I've been on-one nasty drug

This is so helpful! I test negative for Babs, but a few years back spent 2 full years with nightly night sweats (through 2-3 t-shirts), and ignored it as hormones. Then ignored the air hunger. Finally, when I was diagnosed with Lyme, I see that those other symptoms made sense.
I am taking Doxy and Artemisia, which have helped alot with air hunger. When I skipped a day of Doxy because my stomach was so upset, the air hunger came rushing back in full force. I did not believe that one day would make a difference, but glad to hear I'm not the only one. Thanks.
