When I turned on the news this evening there was a large picture of a tick! (can't get away from it) Then they reported that they found a tick infected with Tularemia in a popular hiking area.

Oh and they called it a "Pacific Coast Tick" which I hadn't heard of in all my research here.

The Pacific coast tick is found from Oregon down to NW Mexico, so says a dictionary entry I just read.

Also known as Dermacentor occidentalis.

It can transmit tularemia, anaplasmosis, Colorado tick fever, Q fever and cause tick paralysis.

Bottom line - have really good tick repellent on!
