Ever since we took my daughter off of Ceftin and Zith and started her on doxy, she has been having burning pain in her feet.
Current meds and supplements: milk thistle alpha lipolic acid vitamin b complex calcium/magnesium fish oils vit dhttp://flash.lymenet.org/ubb/icons/icon8.gif Gaba(anxiety) L-Theanine(depression) Nystatin doxy rifampin adrenal formula 5-HTP
Any suggestions as to what we could add for neuropathy???

That sure sounds like bart... I see you are using the right combination to treat that. The depression and anxiety should let up with treatment. Just remember the calcium with the mag. can cause constipation.
Is the adrenal formula for CFS? or does she have an adrenal issue. My daughter tried an adrenal formula for what she thought was adrenal problem, but it made her very ill. B5 (Pantothenic Acid) worked much better.

Her doctor is quite certain that she has bart. When she started on Rifampin, she had major brain fog and had a really hard time with her school work. That has cleared up and she is doing well with school now.
I am just not sure what to do about the burning pains in her feet. It is very concerning.
I can't remember what is in the adrenal formula that she takes but she can tell a difference in the way she feels when she is NOT taking it. We had been told by someone that she has adrenal fatigue. We've been to so many different practitioners that I can't remember who told us that.
Now that I look back at my first post, I see that I forgot to ASK my actual question.
Any suggestions as to what she could take for the neuropathy symptoms???

Gatorade girl- That was my first thought too, but my LLMD is very hesitant to prescribe a lot of prescription medication.
Do you know of anything like an herb or supplement that might work??

Usually vitamin B6 is given for neuropathy, but I see that you already give her a B complex vitamin. She must be herxing on the meds and I would think detoxing would help with the burning.
If you have the Pekana kit or Burbur, I would give that a try.
VITAMIN B (required). Clinical studies demonstrated the need for supplemental vitamin B in infections with Borrelia, to help clear neurological symptoms. Take one 50 mg B-complex capsule daily. If neuropathy is severe, an additional 50 mg of B-6 can be added. Generics are OK.

lululymemom- I have been wondering if the doxy is actually just making her herx. I will check to see exactly how much vit b she is getting and I might up the dosage.
TF-I have some of that. I will give her one today.
Jola- I'm almost certain that she takes 600mg per day already but I will check to make sure.
Thanks everybody!!

Wanted to give an update:
I increased her ALA from 600mg to 1200mg. I also increased her stress B complex from 2 capsules to 3 and have been giving her a sublingual b12 everyday.
The burning in her feet has stopped. Thank you everybody for your help. I don't know what I would do without this board!

That is great. I was going to suggest upping the dose of ALA. You might try some acetyl l carnitine too as they work well together.

Thanks Nefferdun. I will keep that in mind as this is one of her worse symptoms at times.

Thanks Docdave. I am hoping that we can avoid the prescription meds for now.
I have taken a couple of those drugs myself and they were hard on my mind. I couldn't think properly.
I guess if it can't be controlled with the herbs or supplements, we have these options.
Thanks again!
