I've been on Doxy for 5 days now. Seems like my symptoms alternate from being extremely tired one day to feeling normal the next but having muscle and joint aches. Has anyone else experienced this, is it normal? Does it mean the Doxy is working?

I had a similar question. I've been on the full does of Doxy for about 3 weeks, and my symptoms seem to change from day to day -- sometimes my joints are seriously crackly, sometimes not; sometimes I am very fatigued, sometimes not. I think I may have some slight improvement, but it's inconsistent. Would love to hear others' thoughts.

I don't have a concrete answer for you, but I have been on doxy for about 4 weeks now and have gone through what you are describing. Sometimes I feel I have slight improvement then the next day I feel like I am backsliding. There are time I have a good few hours or so, then a not so good few hours or so. My MD warned me I would feel worse before I felt better (herx) so it is important not to get discouraged.

I'm on Doxy right now, but I've been on other drugs so I'm way into my treatment by now.

You will have Herx's with any antibiotic (abx). So remember that in cycles, you'll feel worse before better. Whether it's every 4-5 days, or 4-5 wks.... and yes, it's a good thing. Just don't let yourself herx too hard.. but this is up to your llmd. Sometimes, they have you back off while herxing too bad.

This is a strange disease and treatment. Reading about herxing in here will help understanding.
