Hi everyone,
I remember getting a tick dug out of my arm in 1981 when I was just a little girl. I was increasingly sick after that, but nothing that landed me in ER, so I never got checked out.

I increasingly got stiffer and stiffer over the years and plain worn out and tired. Figured I had residual issues due to being born a premie to a drug addicted mother, but I wanted more answers.

We weren't aware of Lyme back then and had no idea I should've been treated right away. A tick bite was looked at no different in my family than having to go take a flea dip like our many pets had.

As years past I kept hearing about and seeing articles on "Fibromyalgia." Then finally happened upon a FM study group for Lyrica (before it went on the market) where I was diagnosed with FM.

I feel like I'm 80 alot of times and I'm only 34. I'm sure this is Lyme from the one tick bite, but can IgeneX find strains this many years after the fact? I need to know exactly what's going on with my mind and body. So sick of being sick.

You can check it. Borrelia and co-infections usually strike hard when you are stressed. At least that is when I have gotten a lot worse.

For people like us who are chronically ill, it might be best to do a challenge before getting tested.

I wish I would have done that first, as my test results came back negative.

I believe with a challenge you would take antibiotics such as doxy for 4 weeks, stop for two then take the test.

Otherwise if you go ahead and do the test without challinging first you may still have some positive bands that a good LLMD/LLND may still be able to clinically diagnose.

Thank you, Lulu & Caniiggia.

Yes, Caniggia, I do notice I don't handle stress very well, both physically and mentally. I just feel so drained afterwards.

Yes, they can find it after 30 years.. However, your immune system may not be able to register a strong response to the antibodies.

I was tested 42 yrs after being bitten and my test was never clearly positive, though I had enough bands show up to indicate that it was lyme.

One bite can do a lot of damage.

Like Lymetoo I was tested over 40 years after the fact. While I do not some up positive overall, I also have some positive bands.

In addition I tested positive to Babesia Duncani (another tick-borne infection).

Find a Lyme Literate doctor to guide you through this maze.
