For the longest time, I thought this racing in my upper chest was my heart. It would only happen at night and I would wake up in a panic, too frazzled to think to take my pulse. I wore a monitor for 30 days, had several of these episodes, but it was not my heart racing.
Since then, these episodes have increased and since I know it's not my heart, I'm a bit less panic-stricken upon waking. I've been able to take my pulse while I'm feeling the racing--and it's normal. If I put my hand on my chest (near my collarbone--directly under), I can feel the racing, as can my husband.
What on earth could this be? My llmd said possible nerve issues? It comes and goes and is sometimes paired with a tightness on the sides of my neck, throat fullness and the feeling of a swollen tongue.
Last night, it almost hurt to breath. Like I had been running out in the cold and came into the warm air gasping for breath--do you know what I mean? of course I hadn't been out running Typically this only lasts during the nighttime hours but I woke up feeling just as bad.
I would really love to have any insight as to what this racing might be. I'm baffled--it's so strange!

Wow, I've been having the same kind of issues, and like you, my heart is always fine even though I can feel this weirdness in my chest.
I've also struggled to describe the feelings I get--always for me on the left side--of weakness or something in my throat, my chest, and sometimes my limbs.
I have been attributing it to air hunger, as that always seems to strike at the same time.
It has been worse for me lately, but I just started Ceftin less than a week ago, and I'm wondering if that has something to do with it.
LLMD wants to start treating babesia--I will start on Malarone in the next couple weeks.

It is very strange. I've had a ton of cardiac issues which is why I attributed it to that. However, I've had a pretty rigorous cardiac work-up and had an ablation done in September. I'm told my heart is healthy.
Most of my issues are left-sided as well, except for the issues I've described above. Odd!
I'm on doxy, rather than Ceftin. I've tried Ceftin 2 times and thought I was going to die. LLMD says no more Ceftin.
LLMD has mentioned babesia involvement, thought I haven't been officially tested. Perhaps that's the culprit?
Do you have the actual racing? Mine is right below my collar bone, above my breasts.

I have similar symptoms, although lately they haven't been as bad.
It feels sort of like a vibrating feeling, inside... either chest or stomach area (can't exactly pin it down). And it's more noticeable in the evenings or early morning. And it's left-sided too.
My first thought was it was my heart, but no EKG or holter test ever picked up anything unusual. The only other thing I can recommend testing, if you haven't had one already, is an echo, just to make sure your valves and heart muscle are okay.
But my doc said it's most likely nerve related or muscle spasms...or both. And I have noticed it is worse when I can't breathe as well. And I tested positive for Babesia too...

Again...I don't know, but Im guessing Babesia or Bart. To me it feels like anxiety in my chest. The same feeling of anxiety I get when my heart races but without the racing heart. This is why I think it could be related to Bart (Anxiety). I think I have both but don't know for sure, will post if this goes away with any one treatment.
