ive been having some upset stomach all day due to the antibiotics for lyme ive been rx'ed. is there anything i can do to prevent this?

I am taking PLAQUENIL and CLARITHROMYCIN. are there any alternatives or newer drugs i could take that would eliminate GI sensitivity?

Are probiotics worth taking? If so, what time of the day to take them? What kind? How much/what dose?

thanks in advance

OMG... YES... probiotics are a MUST.. and please don't buy them at CVS or Walgreen's.

Excellent probiotics:

VSL#3

Theralac
www.theralac.com

Whatever you take, take at least 100 CFU's per day. Wish someone had told me that 10 yrs ago!

and yes -- take them 2 hrs away from any antibiotics. Bedtime is a really good time... and maybe mid-afternoon.

I was unable to take plaquenil due to stomach pain.

I know probiotics helps restore good bacteria but what helps with the irritation? Even with taking the abx with food still irritates my stomach

Biaxin does cause an upset stomach in a lot of folks. Try taking ginger root capsules daily or until it passes. Activated charcoal is also said to help.
