My body is already going through a lot and I am EXHAUSTED!!!

If I get a deep-tissue massage, will releasing all those toxins be too much for my body to handle all of it?

Last year, before I knew I had lyme, I had one and it kicked my butt. I couldn't get out of bed for two days because I was so fatigued. But then I felt SO much better.

But with the antibiotics and my body already trying to kill off the lyme, would it be better or worse to have it done?

I don't know, but I'd say do it. I want to get one done. The toxins have to go at some point, right??

Maybe get a massage but have them use light pressure. Sometimes, the deep massage is too much. I had the same response to a deep tissue massage once. I was in bed for 2 days. I didn't feel a whole lot better - after, though.

re - The toxins have to go at some point, right??

Not always. If it's too much, I think the body will reabsorb them...

I've always been suspicious of a deep tissue massage I got while vacationing in the Bahamas years ago. I felt sick upon returning home. That's when my medical odyssey began on this lovely journey. I was told to drink a lot of water, which I did.

I'd be very careful and I'd be ready for the toxins to flow.

Myself? I will probably live the rest of my life just fine without ever having one again.

I've been doing massage for 12 yrs. I still won't let someone do a deep tissue massage.

Medium is effective enough to get toxic stuff moving around. It's enough to get me feeling worse for a couple days.

I've learned tons of water, heavy duty detoxing including detox baths help clear out the garbage.

I get deep tissue weekly and have for a year now. please note that deep for me sometimes is just touching me and my therapist is very gifted and able to work my body til it gives it up. Moving facia can be excruciating but bugs love to live in hung up congested tissue and Im not letting them!!!
Before I go I take 20+ tablets of Wobenzyme, and inject myself with Lyphomyosot and after I do a 20 CC IV push of Glutathione and a 500 ML Meyer Cocktail and lots of water to drink!! I also take hot Epsons Salt bath and use my LymphStar Pro.
Often in the begining I cried for most of the 90 minute massage and I did up my immuniglobulins shakes and Cholestyramine
It it really helpful to get the feedback because my practicioner can really feel that my body is getting better.
Many of my crazy neuropathy symptoms have lessened or disappeared altogether. my lymph really needed the help too! I had crazy nodules from all my IM ABX shots before I got my PICC line and she has worked them out too!
It is not easy. it is my activity for the day but it has been the only movement my body has some weeks as I have really been down for the count. Also Torf mud soaks help too!
Wishing the best healing possible no matter what path you choose!!!
xoxoxo

Personally, i enjoy and tolerate the deep tissue massage well. I believe thoroughly that while it can stir up the toxins in your body during the massage (i.e they say never get a massage when you have the flu or cold), i do think if you can ELIMINATE the toxins afterwards, it is extremely beneficial. Salt baths help after.

I had one bad experience with massage-ROLFING is super intense, and not commonly available here in a major metropolitan area chalked full of massage therapy centers, but it made me experience flu symptoms after getting a ROLFING massage before i flew to D.C. for 4 days on work trip, where i could barely get out of bed for a work conference. I presented for 15 minutes in front of the American Public Health Association and was going to the bathroom and bed-riddren for the 4 days i was there.

Lots of water after a massage, and if you take cholestryamine or another blood/bowel cleanser i would say YES. However, hippocritically, i have not had one in 4 mos...trying to save up for the worst head-stabbing, aching flare-ups. But do i love the deep tissue massage-yes. I have POTS though. Everybody's different. I need serious blood flow and tissue stimulation. Heal however you can. I hate yoga and meditation, so go with what ya can.

azdaisy - that's pretty creative. Did you come up with that? Whatever works.

I don't know about rolfing... I would probably avoid that. Many years ago, I heard of people doing that who were well & ended up crying in pain. Everyone is different, though.
