March 2011 of Self magazine has a large article about the coinfections associated with lyme.

It is so nice to see a fairly well written article (although not scientific) placed in a larger circulation periodical.

At a minimum, at least it helps with awareness.

It also helps to know that others feel its important enough to publish.

7 years ago when I was diagnosed, I never saw an article on the coinfections just an occasional article on lyme if you were lucky.

I hope the rest of you have the opportunity to read it.

Yes, thats it. I thought it was well written. I am so happy that the word is getting out there.

I guess I haven't seen the ones that they have written on lyme disease.

I was impressed that they were addressing the coinfections.

It's good to see Lyme and babesia addressed in the popular press but the article certainly has flaws.

First off NEVER go to the Vahalla Medical Center home to Gary Wormser and the 21 day cure.

Lyme CAN be fatal.

The number of cases reported vs. how many contract lyme and co-infections is grossly distorted.

Westchester Country is tick central, totally inundated with herds of deer and lots of ticks.

Just saw that yesterday at the eye doctor's office.

I too was glad to see the coinfections addressed, although I did laugh at the comment that they are "new" tick diseases. yeah, new if you haven't been dealing with them.

And the comment by the one doctor that it's safe to go outside when there's snow on the ground, because there aren't any ticks out then was laughable.

Last winter my husband came inside in February when it was cold and icy out, and we found a tick on him.

Yes, saw this at the doctor's office last week. I was surprised to see an article putting Babesia front and center.
