I don't know... have wondered that myself as with my weird symptoms and feeling "unwell" has come a strange case of dry/cracked lips every so often. I have never had this before in my life, have always lived in the NE. Good question!

Things that can cause cracked lips dehydration not enough minerals allergy to something put on lips
I'm sure there are other reasons but those are the few that I know of off the top of my head.

For more immediate relief try a product called" super salve". You can find it online. It was all I ever used when I lived at 8500 foot elevation and would get wicked cracks in my lips. It comes in a little tub and is absolute heaven!

Interesting. My lips are cracking and the tip of my tongue is sore and this is a new symptom for me.
I just started taking sublingual B complex and this started around the same time. Could there be a connection?

I had reaaally dry lips (peeling all the time) when I was taking certain abx - I can't recall the exact ones - maybe Minocycline, Biaxin, Zithromx.. one of those maybe.
Anyway maybe I was deficient in some minerals too but I haven't really changed too much protocol there - and my lips are fine now. Maybe my immune system is generally improving now too.
So for me I think it was a side effect of some of the abx or maybe my immune is improving or a combo of both.

I'm also starting to wonder if I'm allergic to Vaseline lip balm. I've been using a lot of that lately and since the tip of my tongue is sore too maybe it's that and the tip is sore from licking it off my lips unintentionally. God only knows.
I've heard that if someone is very deficient in Magnesium they can actually have a reaction to it when they start taking Mag. I think that happened to me. I wonder if the same thing can happen with B Vitamins.

If it is not getting better after months I would recommend a full virus testing ( Arup and focus).
Zinc cream ( the one you use for baby) could help healing.

I still have some left over from when my daughter was still in pull-ups at night.
OMG, I can just see the look on her face now seeing Mommy with what we call "butt cream" on my lips! Posts: 2541 | From Northeast | Registered: Jan 2008
