How many of you have experienced it? Can you share your story with me? (pm me if you want) I am finding myself overwhelmingly angry, and raging on people whom I love. Went to the doctor today and asked if anger goes with Lyme, and he said it is a very real symptom "lyme rage". I am feeling awful about myself for it, and need some reassurance please. thank you!

I would suggest, as supportive adjunct, lots of detoxification protocols at this time.
According to Traditional CHinese Medicine, when the liver is clogged or affected, anger is the result.
Of course many other things can and do contribute. THis is far from a diagnosis, which I am not qualified to do. Instead, this is a suggestion and a question to be followed up, with your doctor.

I had it bad and I had a colicky baby. Good thing for my very supportive husband!
Mines all gone now but I'm not sure if the last lyme treatment(IV vancomycin) did it or going back to treating babesia. Maybe both?

Yes, lyme rage is very real. I once flew off the handle with a guy who stopped his car to ask me for directions!
When I started yelling at him (don't ask me why) he drove off!
I said, "Man, I am really losing it." At the time, my only diagnosis was menopause. (It was actually lyme giving me a false menopause that reversed once I got good lyme treatment.) I thought that was why men said to stay away from women in menopause!
So, forgive yourself! Please tell your family that your lyme doctor said this is a symptom of the disease.
To show you how badly lyme can affect the brain (and, therefore, the emotions) I have copied below a part of the list of lyme symptoms from page 9 of the Burrascano Guidelines:
Confusion, difficulty thinking Difficulty with concentration, reading, problem absorbing new information Word search, name block Forgetfulness, poor short term memory, poor attention Disorientation: getting lost, going to wrong places Speech errors- wrong word, misspeaking Mood swings, irritability, depression Anxiety, panic attacks Psychosis (hallucinations, delusions, paranoia, bipolar)
So, as you can see, this is one nasty disease. Notice hallucinations, mood swings, irritability, delusions, etc. These are severe mental symptoms!
You have to educate yourself and your family so they all understand what is going on with you and help you when the lyme makes you act unlike yourself.

Let's see: during the worst of my Lyme-induced insomnia (before the actual diagnosis), I stomped the snot out of my alarm clock for daring to wake me up.
Then, when my husband's alarm clock woke me up, I taped signs ALL OVER the bedroom that said, "Did you TURN OFF your alarm?"

Thank you all for being willing to share with me. I have been so angry with my teenage stepson. It has been brewing the last 2 years. There is so much to it, but my part is that I get angry and can't let it go. I yell when provoked, but I don't call him names or anything. I just can't get past it to appreciate him for the teenager he is. But then again, what parent of a teenager HASN'T felt like that at some point?
I was so relieved to hear from my doctor that it is just another one of the lovely symptoms we get to experience. I sat with him tonight and told him how bad I feel for acting that way. I take responsibility for my inability to be the adult. But I told him that when I get angry, I am not really angry with him. Its just my illness making me crazy. It is not him that I am mad at. It really has nothing to do with him.
I guess if I can be open and honest, the damage will be minimal. He surprises me at how much he "gets it". Thanks again for being willing to share.

Lyme Rage is definitely REAL !!! I once had to leave my Director's office - during a simple discussion about work policy, because I could actually Feel myself preparing to stand up and turn her desk over --------- just during a simple discussion at the office. It was terrible !!!

Oh yes! I can fly into a rage over the most ridiculous things! I remember the first time I experienced a big break down what one day when I saw "added Vitamin C" on the grape juice bottle. It made me so angry that they added vitamin C! Wow.
I don't hit things or ruin things but I get so angry that I literally work myself up into an anxiety attack. And I have the same problem with not being able to let it go sometimes.
Its so frustrating because I have never had anger problems, so to feel so out of control of my emotions like this is so scary.
But yeah, I usually just yell and go to my room and cry in bed....trying desperately to "control" myself!
You are not alone.
