i was discussing lyme with ann, my friend, who has it.

she says she eats a semi-normal diet. doesn't do a whole lot of cokes, fast food, etc., but does more natural food stuff.

every three months her doctor gives her a week of diflucan.

she says it is impossible for her to do the yeast diet. she's fallen off so many times.

so she and her doctor agreed that diflucan every three months would really help.

she says it works great for her.

but i'm wondering. isn't she just creating a rebound situation? how can her body tolerate this kill them, feed them, kill them cycle?

As far as I know, I don't have a big yeast problem.

My LLMD gave me Diflucan to take as needed. I am supposed to take one pill, wait a few days, then take another one if needed. I have taken maybe 3 in the 3 years I have taken abx.

I am on the gluten free diet and don't replace most carbs with gluten free subs, so I am reasonably low carb. I eat mostly meat, veggies, but also rice and potatoes.

I try not to eat too many sweets or junk food. It is when I go overboard on this that I feel the need for the Diflucan.

I feel great. My only real symptom is muscle twitching and occasional mild air hunger, so I'm not concerned about yeast. But maybe I should be. LOL

Anyway, this is working for me, so far anyway.

hmmm, that's basically what ann says too.

she doesn't eat sweets, drinks tea or water, no junk food. mostly vegetables and meat adn fish.

she has minor lyme symptoms and uses herbs and exercise, walking several miles a day.

she cannot afford abx and treatment and says is what's best for her.

doesn't do a whole lot of cokes, fast food, etc.,

Even a little hurts when you have yeast issues.

Sounds like your friend has found a way to peaceful coexistence.

I've founf yeast/fungus impossible to eradicate. I did the diet for years religiously, but it never completely eliminated it from my body. Now I eat a fair amount of carbs in whole grains, but take a dose of strong natural anti-fungals and a large dose of probiotics just about every day. I don't eat any junk, but do consume some fruit on a regular basis. Basically, I'm controlling the fungus with natural meds. It works as well or better than the diet and allows you some semblance of normality. No one has been able to tell me why I can't completely kick this although theories have abounded. Now I've just learned to live with it and hope that science will catch up with me eventually.
