I am coming off abx in a few months and want to try herbals. I want to try the best out there, with the most success. Is it Cowden? Byron White? Others? Maybe a combination?

I am open to thoughts and comments or suggestions. I really want to give it a go.

Thanks!

Richie,

The answer to your question depends on several factors.

Do you only want to treat lyme or do you also have babesia, bartonella or other coinfections?

How much work do you want to do? Prepackaged tinctures and capsules are more expensive than buying powdered herbs and making your own capsules or buying cut and sifted herbs to make teas.

I am doing some research that I will be posting soon -- have found at least 20 different formulas/prtocols for treating lyme and company. Some are well known like those you listed and others are available from various chiropractors, naturopaths and herbalists who are less well known.

The most well known protocol is probably the Buhner herbs from Healing Lyme (lots of people have repackaged these in various formulas).

Other well known protocols -- Zhang protocol of Chinese herbs, Jernigan protocol from the Beating Lyme books, the new teasel protocol from the new book "Healing Lyme Disease Naturally", the Klinghardt protocol and the list goes on.

Hope to post my research on herbal babesia treatments in another day or two. Will probably be 1 or 2 weeks before I finish researching the lyme info.

Well, I was diagnosed with lyme, babesia, bartonella and some parasite found through Fry Labs.

Through bioenegenic testing, my doctor says Lyme is gone but I still have a little babs and some bart. Who knows really!?

My nutritionist said lots of people are doing well on the Cowden protocol as are the Byron white formulas.

Hi Richedie
My LLMD says that he and everybody else in his office agree, they all think that the products by Healthy Directions are the best-formulated they have seen for lyme.

I just read on another thread that they changed their company name, but I am sure you can find them if you google them.

They are in Rohnert Park, CA

Using their Bar 1 product for bartonella, I Have had gentle herxing yet really good progress in only six months, I have been very happy and very pleased. My LLMD said this is the gentlest of all their products FYI but he again says he thinks they are the best he has seen for lyme, his colleagues agree in the office.

Best, CI

Healthy Directions changed their name to Beyond Balance recently:
http://www.beyondbalanceinc.com

Last I knew, you have to either get Beyond Balance from a practitioner or pay for testing through their company before you order. I know of at least one practitioner who is selling them on his website. I don't know if you have to be his patient to order. I wouldn't think so.
http://www.rhinebeckhealth.com

I think the best bet would be to talk it over with your current LLMD or LLND and see if they will start carrying them for you.

My LLMD got off abx using these herbs.

My son is treating bartonella with the bar1.

We've been over this already. The Cowden condensed protocol averages about $285 per month not $500.

If you're struggling, it's worth a shot. I'm about a month into Cowden and have noticed significant herxing. I can't be sure if it will get the job done but I will give it its 6 months at least--more if it helps.

I'm using it in conjunction with abx.

People keep ignoring the University of New Haven's research on Samento and Banderol. It's a good little college and if they say the protocol "may" be useful then I feel it's a fair personal treatment experiment.

i beg to differ with you. i KNOW what they woman at the herbal shop quoted. she was selling cowden protocol and some other recommended stuff from this llmd in bedford, texas.

others on here know about this doctor. i found out later she was in kohoots with him.

so she WAS charging 500 a month for all the stuff she was selling.

but if you are watching you money, like a lot of us are on here, even 200-300 or whatever costs a lot.

some of the people on here are living hand to mouth so even cowden would be out for them.
and yes, i found out later it shouldn't have cost that much.

but i would definitely recommend you check out the costs first.

I am doing Buhner's protocol and I do think its helping. If you buy the herbs in powder, bulk form it is very inexpensive....I paid around $100 for my herbs and they are lasting me about at least two months.
I'd get his book and read through it too.
