I was wondering who here has had a SPECT scan that was covered by insurance? Do they know what IDC codes where used on the test request form?

Does it matter when the test is done, in a crash, on antibiotics, etc? What where you guys results?

I have. Medicare/Masshealth covered it. I have full Medicare because I'm disabled.

I have...My insurance is BCBS of IL..our plan is actually a self-insured plan from my company which is managed via BCBS of IL.

I used to hate my insurance before I was Dx'd for lyme. But...now that I have a chronic illness, I have to say they have been great. As long as I pay my deductible, they rarely reject anything.

The only thing they refuse to pay is my CD-57 test which is about $50.

I have heard BCBS of Mass flat our refuses to pay for SPECT scans. I don't get how insurance companies can deny treatment when the doctor says it is necessary.

My child's spect was covered - needed some sort of pre-authorization - by UHC. My son had neurological issues from the office exam, so that was probably a justification.

--------------------
Me - Igenex: IgM: 41IND, IgG: 39IND, 41+ but Plasmid PCR Positive
Kiddo - after 1 year IV - positive Lyme culture (before IV: IgM:31,34,41,83-93 IND; IgG: 41+++, 66+)

Mine showed -3 & -4 standard deviations of perfusion (blood flow) to the frontal and temporal lobes. Quite bad and most likely responsible for the cognitive issues I combat constantly. Trying heavy anti-oxidant therapy to see if it helps... nothing so far. Awesome.
