See a cardiologist asap...in the meantime...are you taking any
magnesium ?
I had similar , but maybe not so intense as you are experiencing ,
though bad enough to make an apt. w" a cardiologist , scary heart
things like you describe...my LLMD told me to take Magnesium
and Potassium Asporotates...600 mg...I took them while the
issues were happening...then I switched to another magnesium...
it seems to come and go with me...it is very scary when it
happens...feels like a heart attack...the usual caveat here...I am
not a doctor...I am only sharing what I did...run it by your own
doc before trying please...we are all different and have unique
situations...I hope you find some relief quickly...

Can't your LLMD refer you to a cardiologist? Just wondering.

Hello Missing Remember one thing: While we never know if this is the real thing or not, there also are many things that can mimic heart stuff.
I had this happen during a chlamydia pneumonia die-off.
I could'nt get my breath fully, my heart was fluttering and achey all day long, I panted and was not just out of breath after walking for five minutes....and I had never been a heart patient! this had an absolutely sudden onset after taking an abx, and as it turned out the c pneumonia die off was causing a temporary porphyria which mimicked a heart attack (or something close to it).
For me, hawthorn, ginkgo, co q 10, and magnesium helped a lot.
I will wish you the best, please get this properly diagnosed and know our prayers and thoughts aer with you! YOu are not alone and will be encircled in light. Best, CI

PS any physician who does not refer you to a cardiologist...or any other physician you need to see...is irresponsible.
Have you thought about switching doctors?
You are never stuck. You could go to see another doctor and then ask to be referred to a cardiologist.
My LLMD said that acid reflux can mimic a heart attack, causing not only chest pressure and pain but *on occasion* it "Can" cause shortness of breath too. Not as usual, but apparently it can at times.
Take it easy, hold up the hope, and get yourself checked out. In good hands, you will probably be fine. There's so much that can be done nowadays. Remember that too.

I ended up in the ER many times due to my heart racing. Once it was going so fast it wouldn't register on their monitor.. They were even talking about using a defibrilator..Very scary times.. I was put on a beta blocker for 8 years.
The days following these episodes were horrendous. I couldn't get out of bed. It was like my heart would become very weak and I was incapacitated.
I have since started using Magnesium Citrate and CoQ10 and was able to completely get off the atenolol. I would have never believed that this combo would make such a difference for me. It's been since August and I have had no problems whatsoever.

YIPEEEEE!!!!! LULU!!!!!
Wooo hoooooo!!!!
I love hearing stories like that, so happy for you!!!!
When I went through my "scrape", I started with one thing at a time----hawthorn---and my chest pains/flutters went away rapidly too.
Then added co q 10, magnesium, and finally ginkgo.
My LLMD said it would never have disappeared so quickly (within days so much improved, gone in weeks) if it had been real heart disease. For me it was c pneumonia die-off mimicking heart stuff, but really in the worst way! It was gone within weeks, no need for further supplements, except on occasion.
My LLMD also said that food allergies can cause the heart to thump or race.
Best, CI
The FDA has not evaluated the above statements. This does not diagnose, prevent, or cure any disease.

I'm having some strange chest sx too suddenly.
I've had air hunger for a long time, lately I've also had a weird pressure in my chest, right near my breast bone. It feels like it's muscle issue, not in the actula sternum as with costochondritis.
I keep getting paranoid that I have an aortic aneurysm like both my parents had, but when I asked the cardiologist about it, he said I was fine.
Just wish I knew what was up--I did start malarone and Ceftin almost 2 months ago for babs. I can't take Zith, so this is what my LLMD is trying right now.
(Of course, my kids are driving me absolutely freakin' insane for the past few days, which doesn't help at all.)

For those of you taking mag citrate and CO Q 10, what are your doses?
Starfall, I have the exact same thing and I worry about an aortic aneurysm as well! For me, when it occurs, it is more of a feeling of irritation. I believe this area is the xiphoid process? When the Lyme isn't in a flare, I don't usually have a problem with this area. Does anyone have any idea what is causing this? I too worry about it being cardiac in nature.

Mine finally settled down last night after a couple doses of Advil and a bedtime dose of Benadryl.
I just don't know how to tell when it's inflammation or when it's something else. We have really crappy insurance right now, so going to the ER is just out of the question unless I'm sure it's something serious.

Missing, have you had an endocrine workup including cortisol, thyroid, HGH, etc? Have you had a sed rate? Has anyone looked into endocarditis? You need to demand a referral to a cardiologist to at least rule out endocarditis.
Starfall, sounds like we are similar. I too take Advil sometimes with complete relief, sometimes just improvement. When I first went on Zithromax, on day three I had this same sensation, which I typically refer to as more of a feeling of irritation but by day 3 on Zith it was somewhat painful. Interestingly, a heating pad relieved the pain. On a separate note, a couple of days ago I was trying to open a stubborn jar. I used a lot of exertion and this also elicited the sensation at the xiphoid and I the feeling of irritation continued.....subsiding today since taking Advil and eating salty foods.

I've noticed too that some kinds of exertion can irritate it, and I always try to recall if I've done anything in the past day or so that might have stirred things up---
stuff like picking up one of my kids (they're both over 40 pounds) or pushing a stubborn cart at the store (you know how the wheels kind of stall on you sometimes and make it hard to turn).
Usually if I can recall doing something a little out of the ordinary, that at least takes away some of the anxiety that I'm having a heart attack or something.

Do any of you see a cardiologist who understands how Lyme affects the heart or do you have your LLMD manage heart symptoms? How and why does Lyme cause palpitations and episodes of tachycardia?

I am not a doctore but I had the same thhings happen to me and it took them forevere to find out what was wrong....but they did. I have Hypertrophic Cardiomiopothy. (Inlarged week heart). You would have thought they could have spoted that from an X-Ray but they didn't. I had never had heart problems until I got Lyme. Was so tired, out of breath walking across a room. It went on for years..then one day my feet swelled up and...surpize...they took me seriously and did a bunch of test...they found it. I am on meds for it but for me it is to late. They can control it somewhat but you have to get tested now...Echo..stress test, and so many others but it is worth it if even for peace of mind. Go to a heart doc and keep going until you find one who will do the testing and find out one way or the other what is going on..Good luck dear...I only hope for the best for you...

Treat yorself because if you wait for doctors to treat you they will treat you only after your heart is damaged you do noyt want that.Remember treat for viruses and yeast to in addition to antibiotics. But do ECHO of the heart is the must .do not stop treating till the symptoms vanish .
Take care
