Yesterday I tested positive for C diff. I was very surprised as I had one day of diarrhea, but was fine after, so I was guessing it was a stomach bug. Right now, I am having a mild stomach pain off and on, but generally feel good.

My LLMD wants to start off by discontinuing my IV Rocephin, and just increasing my probiotics. He states that he has had good luck treating c diff this way. To be honest, it scares me to death as I know c diff is usually treated with flagyl or vancomycin, although he said to call if I start to get worse at all and he will start me on flagyl immediately. I guess I am just curious if anyone else has treated this way or has any wonderful words of advice as I am very depressed by this news.

Very surprising that he doesn't want to treat you for it with flagyl... but maybe you have a very mild case and it will resolve??

Be sure to take saccromyces boulardi (Florastor) from now on and take at least 100 CFU's of GOOD probiotics each day. (2 hrs away from any abx)

Excellent probiotics:

Theralac

Whatever you take, take at least 100 CFU's per day. Wish someone had told me that 10 yrs ago!

I have been taking Klaire Labs Vital 10 and Abx support (saccromyces boulardi) up until this point, and now he has increased the Abx Support to 4 times a day.

It is so hard because I have been super careful about taking my probiotics and everything. As if we don't have enough to worry about with all we are dealing with.
