I was diagnosed with c diff last friday. Symptoms were actually better by then. LLMD increased my probiotics, and wanted to wait and see. By Sunday I was having diarrhea again, so LLMD started me on Flagyl.

So today, I feel awful. I am not having diarrhea, but terrible pains and bloating in my back and chest. Just generally don't feel good. So my question is, can this be normal, the feeling worse before you feel better? It is hard for me, because I never really felt that bad to begin with. I guess I just need to know if this is o.k. and normal or if I need to tell my dr. I am feeling worsel.

Thanks!

All I recall when I had it from taking erythromycin once for an ear infection is I had to go to the hospital for IV treatment overnight - don't know what they did for it.

Like any bacteria, it grows. Over the past few days it has been growing unchecked. Now you are playing catch up. So give it a few days to see what the flagyl does for you.

I don't know if you "herx" when on flagyl for c.diff .. but I know you will herx on it for Lyme!! ugh!

So sorry you are in this position.

Excellent probiotics:

VSL#3

Theralac
www.theralac.com

Whatever you take, take at least 100 CFU's per day. Wish someone had told me that 10 yrs ago!

Also make sure you are taking Florastor.

I never took flagyl for C. diff, so I can't speak for that. If the diarrhea is being controlled, great, then maybe it will work for you.

I had C diff for 11 months. Finally got rid of it with vancomycin and rifaximin.

Best, Timaca

My son had c diff twice, he was 10 an 12 yes old on antibiotics 4 3 years. Dr. J. Put him on flagyl and on his third day the cramping stopped. He was just very gassy but no diarrhea. Feel better.

Th flagyl could be making you herx of be side effects of Flagyl. Flagyl makes my head and neck pressure worse. Think it's a side effect of the Flagyl vs Herx for me.
