My LLPA jsut perscribed me Plaquenil. I have been doing a lot of reading on it.

What were your experiences?

Did you suffer any sideeffects? Weight loss/Weight gain? Loss of Hair?? Anxiety??

Your input would be greatly apperciated!

I've been on Plaquenil for many months. It's the one drug that has produced no side effects.

I do sort of remember in the very beginning it giving me some more energy until my body got used to it.

It can accumulate in your eyes though. They recommend you get a good eye exam as a base line, then repeating every 6 months. I've had no problems at all.

My young son takes it as well without issue.

Good luck,

You know I really forget, but I take one pill in the morning and one in the evening.

I was freaked out by the eye thing in the beginning too, but I found other things to freak me out more as time went on. :-)

From what I understand eye issues can occur but are extremely rare. It's important to get an eye exam every 6 months.

Plaquenil is a drug that Lupus patients are often on for life...

No, no weight gain. For me it's been the most benign drug I've been on.

I recently tried it but developed myalgia on it with shooting nerve pains...I think, though, my body may be struggling with depletion of CoQ10 and other mitochondrial support issues.....i think the plaquenil aggravated this....

I was on it, with Biaxin for 8 months, 200 mg twice a day. The combo helped with joint pain, headaches, and body vibrations. I had no side effects.

I was on it for 4 months with clarithromycin.
No side effects and I had lots of improvement.

that phase of abx(along with rest of protocols)
really bumped me out of the worst and restored my sense of future.
Part brain recovery and part hope.

The LLND switched abx's a month ago to hit Bart more because I plateaued
in a much better place on plaquenil and clarith in combo.
