I just started Biaxin and I understand that the macrolides can cause heart symptoms. I had them on Zith and now may be having them on Biaxin. I understand this may occur while on the drug but does it actually cause irreversible damage? I do not want heart issues after this from taking this drug.

If you keep taking it it might. If you react in such a way (I do too) then you need to go to something else.

You don't need a heart attack too.

Lymegal .. if you aren't having heart symptoms, I wouldn't worry. Let's HOPE that if it really causes heart damage we would know about it? It should have a black box warning then.

I'm curious about this too this is the first time I've heard of this. I have major PVCs when I'm not on Biaxin and Plaquenil but on them I'm good.

Interesting

On Zith I had really bad palpitations and heart zaps for the first 2 weeks but that stopped. I have never had heart symptoms like that from any other drug so I assumed it was the drug since Macrolides state they can increase QT prolongation in the heart.

I took my first dose of Biaxen last night and noticed a mild increase in my heart rate when I layed down to sleep. This kept me awake. It was very mild like 80 bpm when its normally 60 bpm when Im relaxed.

I have had a lot of tachycardia/palpitations since getting sick so I know a lot is caused from the infection. I just do not want any damage from these darn drugs!

Also my dosage seems very high than others I see on here. Can someone PM me there dosage if they don't mind?

I had them on Zith. I have been on Biaxin for three months and not one episode. I think it may be a herx, mine went away with Doxy after three months in the beginning of my treatment.

Been on Biaxin a month combo with rifampin.

Had heart palps now and then but I did not think it was meds since I had them worse earlier infections. Felt the same but much less.

and they left for a couple weeks now and still on it.
