Going into week 10 of tx with IV Roc and plaquenil, can anybody share ANY experience with Plaq??
My husband seems to have what he refers to as burning in his eyes, no blurriness or other vision issues. Also twitching in one eyelid- no, he isn't winking at me !!!!!
My thoughts were obviously the Plaq, but maybe liver connections which are often associated with certain visual things??
Dunno? Anybody........
Thanks
Clueless (again)

I had no response from plaquenil - that is odd.

Yes, up for help..... help!!!! (thanks joalo and richedie!)
I know that TBD/Lyme can have visual symptoms for some but from what I understand it's not common.
From my limited time on the forum I have read many posts dealing with plaq, so where are all the plaquenil people when you need them??

I was put on Plaquenil and after it started taking affect, it did not help my symptoms much, and it also caused eye irritation. I felt like I had sand in my eyes all the time. After I stopped taking the Plaquenil, this symptom disappeared. I do not know why it did this to me, but it may be what your Husband is feeling as well. I had all the requisite eye exams, all were normal. But my eyes did not feel normal to me while I was on that drug.
Take care,

Maybe it's not from the Plaquenel.? I'm on it and do not have that with my eyes.
But if I get low on B12, my eyes will be a tired burning blurry feeling.
And muscle twitching is sometime related to low magnesium.
Just a few thoughts.

It started gradually, but I don't remember for sure (I was on it in 2006...). I just remember realizing after I'd been on it for a whole year that my symptoms were pretty much the same, and my eyes were driving me nuts. So I stopped the Plaquenil and my eyes started feeling better within a short time (probably a week or two, but I don't remember for sure).

One of my primary symptoms is eye irritation - dry, blood shot eyes that feel like they have sand in them. It also hurts to be in bright light. Hyluronic acid helps because it replaces collagen.
Anyway it is one of the infections causing mine - I don't know which one buy obviously it is not being hit by the abx I have taken so far.
I tested positive for ehrlichia and in dogs it cause red irritated eyes.
So maybe your husband is experiencing another infection emerging that is causing this.

I was on Plaquenil for 3 yrs while on abx for my Lyme. (I just stopped it yesterday.) I am being treated for dry eyes and my ophthalmologist told me Plaquenil should help my eyes. It hasn't helped or hurt them as far as I am aware.
I had read that when you are taking plaquenil you should see an eye dr. I don't know if that is the case or not.

I had what seemed like eye strain on Plaq. There is a lot of variation in how people respond to meds. I would consider trying it again but it does scare me.
