Hi All!
I have been on a no grain, no sugar..no everything diet for about three years now. I am tired of it-- LOL.

I dont want to go out and eat a chocolate cake or anything, but I really just want to start having a bit more moderation. Like if I want a bowl of GF- Chex cereal, then I should go for it!

I dont really have TONS of yeast symptoms, but I do get sweets and other cravings, bad brain fog and the occasional white-ish tongue.

Do you all think having a serving or two of grains a day is going to hurt my recovery?

I'd say no, it won't.

Others might disagree, but neither my doctor nor Burrascano says no grains.

In general, it's good to follow the "if it's white, it ain't right" mantra, but in reality, a bowl of cereal isn't going to hurt anyone.

Well.... I was about to start a thread on this topic
I have been off ABX for 6 months and I am feeling very well.

I am now slowly trying to deviate from my strict diet that I never cheated on for over 3 years
......and I am having alot of problems

And this is with eating healthy carbs. I get dizzy, I feel drunk, I get brain fog....this is from eating things like beans and squash.
I can't imagine how my body would react if I had a slice of pizza.

This really has shown me what a difference food can make in how we feel. People think they don't have yeast because they think that feminine yeast is the only symptom.....well dizziness,

brain fog, headaches, depression which we think are lyme symptoms are actually yeast symptoms which I learned this week the hard way

I've eaten grains throughout treatment and have gotten significantly better.

That said, I just tested for food sensitivities and found that I am sensitive to wheat, barley, and rye (gluten!), and so I've cut those out. But I eat all other grains, no problems, including tons of rice and a good amount of non-GMO corn daily.

Increasingly ill over past 10 yrs; treating since October '08.

It just shows that we differ in our dietary 'builds'.

Perhaps you could experiment by kicking off with a small portion of quinoa, which is technically a seed and has a higher proportion of protein to carbohydrate than the true grains; it is also very healthy in general terms and good to eat with roasted veg, in pilafs, stuffed veg, with Mediterranean meals in general or with curries and casseroles.

I eat grains almost daily and I've been in treatment for almost a year. I try to eat low gycemic foods so they are low in sugar. Example:

Ezekiel Bread: A lifesaver. Not made with flour. It is made from sprouted grains. Very low glycemic. Not officially gluten free, but very close.

Sweet Potatoes.

Barley

Quinoa

Wild rice

And I do cheat occasionally and have Pizza and Chocolate cake. But I'm on a lot of antifungals..Nystatin, GSE, Oil of O, and OLE.

I have grains and I am doing fine with them. I only eat whole grains, nothing processed or refined. Contrary to popular opinion I believe red meat is much more harmful to you than gluten or dairy (when you have no obvious sensitivity).

Brown rice, quinua, oatmeal, barley - all good stuff. You can bake things using whole wheat pastry four mixed with some almond flour, ground flax and/or soy. Put in seed and nuts. Coconut oil instead of butter.

To sweeten use banana or substitute a little honey or maple syrup for sugar - I use 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup when the recipe calls for 1 1/2 -2 cups of sugar.

Try blueberry pie (lots of antioxidants) with whole wheat, almond four, coconut oil crust and 2 tablespoons honey.

Sometimes I melt unsweetened bakers chocolate and add a small amount of honey - just enough to take the edge off the chocolate. I cover almonds with it.

Another favorite is plain yogurt with defrosted frozen blueberries
and half a tablespoon of maple syrup. Lots of probiotics and antioxidants combined. You can throw some walnuts in for omega three fatty acids.

Thanks guys. Yea i just kinda feel like I've reached my limits. Like I said, I have been 100% strict for 3 yrs. I also have Celiac, so gluten free isnt an option but a must for me. Alright....I'll give her a go and see how it goes.

I just hope I dont gain weight or have more yeast problems...

I found some good cereals @ the local healthfood store. No wheat, gluten, whites.

It tastes fantastic and I use almond milk with it.

I also blend the almond milk with almond butter
(to get a good source of fat in there)

Mmmmmm
