wish that i could say JV, which infection it is...are you treating bart? fwiw, i have the light shows with eyes closed all the time. and head sensations wake me out of sleep...brain shivers, etc.
IT COULD BE BART! bea seibert has said that bartonella loves to be active at night...and for me, my sx are many times worse then.
scary stuff indeed.

This is a symptom I had 25 years ago. I just learned that it's an Ocular Migraine. A zig-zag line of sparkles and flashes would start in my peripheral vision and intensify until it completely blocked out my field of vision. This would come on for about 30 seconds, fade away for a minute and return. It repeated this cycle for 3 days before finally stopping. Had a neurologist examine me while it was happening and he had no explanation. Recently I've read of many people with lyme experiencing this same phenomenon to different degrees. I've been told it's believed to be related to Bart. I've also experienced the 'brain zaps' for years.

I had brain shocks and they stopped after 4 months on omnicef and zithromax, I was still off balance at times but no shocks..
Then came the rifampin last week..after two pills I had more shocks that were constant, horrible nerve issues. My head was zapping for a whole week now. My llmd stopped the med right away but still my ears are ringing so loudly that I cant think and I am being thrown from side to side.
Did any of you use that medication and get the same affect from it. I lived 30 years with brain shocks but this was unreal. I was told it was bart that went rampid with the rifampin
