I am tired of poisoning my body with antibiotics. I pulled the plug and stopped taking biaxin.
Can one take plaquenil without biaxin or maybe I will stop both and move on to herbs.

Without a macrolide you are treating the autoimmune problems just not the lyme directly.

I took plaquenil for 10 years for misdiagnosed lupus. I think it helped me so much. I was able to work full time after starting it. Now I have Lyme, I still take it.

Without Plaquenil, Biaxen does not work well on intracellular Lyme within lysosomes, where borrelia is theorized to remain sequestered. Biaxen requires a higher PH environment, and the Lysosomes are acidic.
Biaxen alone works very well for some patients but not as often as when combined with Plaquenil. Plaquenil alone will merely modulate the immune system, reducing some inflammation in some patients.

My doctor says I have no Lyme. He says that is most likely as good as it is going to get. He said this is to treat the protozoan that Fry LABs found....so I am not sure what the biaxin is for!

How about Amantadine instead of Plaquenil. Don't some use it instead? Does it work the same way?
