Hi,

I had peripheral neuropathy back in 2006 that felt like water running down my leg. This lasted for a year or so and largly went away. I then began lyme treatment in 2010 with minocyclin and a month into treatment the neuropathy came back similarly in the leg with buzzing and water sensation. Then a month after that I noticed random wet spots on my arms. I stopped treatment for lyme because of uncertainty with the situation a few months ago. Currently I get random snow flake, ice cube or water sensations on small areas that randomly occur anywhere on my entire body ever few minutes.

My other symptoms are slight numbness under the eyes, stiff neck and a few stiff muscles in other places and an itch that won't go away around the lower right tip of my right rib. My vision also shakes when I look at objects within 6 inches. The vision and stiff neck are the earliest symptoms.

I think this condition could be caused by exposure to a chemical toxin or lyme disease, but I'm curious who else has sytmpoms close to mine with the neuropathy and I'd like to to message them. I have a few other syptoms, but these are the major ones.

Thanks.

Hey apple,

Sorry to hear about your water-related symptoms. That is a good way to describe them. And yes, that isn't unusual with Lyme. Neuropathy is a nasty symptom and can present that way.

Here is a link that might help? It tells of the many symptoms that are possible.

Sometimes the antibiotics make the symptoms of neuropathy worse at times, but they will slow down and can stop with proper treatment.

It might be that another antibiotic would be effective. Please do ask your doctor about it.

Hope you feel "dry" and happy soon!

We all get various symptoms. The stiff neck I think is called meningitis. I've actually never really been able to get rid of mine. I get chiro all the time for it. Am curious to know if any of you have been able to treat successfully for it.

Strange itches can happen anywhere. Can't see anything there, just itches kind of thing. So I just usually find out what each one responds to, like topical caladryl or ketoconazole cream.

Vision issues are common. I've been able to successfully treat all my eye symptoms by drinking mangosteen juice, an anti-inflam antioxidant juice.

There are lots of varieties in healthfood stores and online. I drink the Ultra and mango-xan ones, about 1/2 ounce twice a day. If you try it, drink water too.

One of my daughter's main symptoms right now is neuropathy.

Alpha Lipoic Acid and a B Complex might help.

My first symptom that sent me on my journey to diagnosis was peripheral neuropathy. I even had a nerve conduction study which showed sensory nerve damage in my arms and legs.

So yes, I have this symptom.

--------------------
First Symptom 9/09
Multiple docs, negative Labcorp test
LLMD: 1/10
Positive Igenex/CDC test
Treatment 2/10
2/10-8/10 Amox, ceftin, zith, flagyl
Currently: Bicillin, Minocycline, still dealing with severe breathing issues

I have random water or maybe burning sensations all over the body. It started when I began antibiotic treatment. Has anyone else experiened this and taken bactrim/septra? I think this is the antibiotic most likely to cause this. I stopped taking it maybe 4 or 5 months ago. I went to some neurologists and my nerve tests are normal, but they are not quite sure what it is because this is unusual. I saw bactrim had side effect called "peripheral neuritis" so if that is inflamation I would think steroids might calm it down and supplement with b vitamins.

IMO, I would not try to treat with steroids, that could make everything worse. It is an immuno-suppressant.

B vitamins could help though.

I don't think I have any infectious disease so I'm not really worried about steroids for that reason. Of course if they caused an adverse reaction for any reason that is still a reason to be cautious.

I think the condition I have is myofascial pain syndrome and the neurological symptoms started merely as a result of the antibiotic treatment, not any infectious disease that was being killed.

I'd like to know if anyone has gotten these water or snow flake sensations from taking bactrim or antibiotics and how long it lasted and if it ever went away. From my googling I think it is small fiber neuropathy. This is not made me happy as I think I did not need antibiotic treatment.

I took bactrim for two months and have been off of it for four months, but the sensations are increasing.

Hi there
This is exactly waht I have, water running all over my nerves... and It did get much worse with abx... I has not gotte any better since I stopped few months ago... I do not know how to deal with this, alos believe this is some kind of auto immune condition that got worse with abx... I have this water feelings in my head, arms and legs.... all my nerve tests and MRI came back normal too...I have researched this very thoroughly, and I ma starting to think that the mechanism is probably similar to interstitial cystitis or something like thta, i mean what is this water feeling from?!! I take tons of B complex and B12, it really does not change much to my condition. It also gets a bit better somes days and then flares again...

Robin, meningitis is an inflammation of the brain meninges, so it's way more dangerous and serious than stiff neck, if untreated it leads to death (and it doesn't take that long to kill), also, when you have meningitis, you can't bend your head forward...

Yes, I have had the sensation of hot and cold water running down my leg. During one of my herxes, got very severe episodes of this. This is Lyme and coinfections. My opthalmologist, who also had Lyme, told me she had the same symptom.

I had this symptom before my diagnosis and treatment, so it is not caused by antibiotic, except that herxes can temporarily worsen the symptom as you are killing spirochetes and they are mobilizing.

I've also had itching from HELL, the worst was when I first started treatment.

Sick since at least age 6, now 67. Decades of misdiagnosis. Numerous arthritic, neuro, psych, vision, cardiac symptoms. Been treating for 7 years, incl 8 mos on IV. Bart was missed so now treating that.

I am not sure it is from herxing as a herx is not supposed to last months without any improvement... I tend to compare this nerupathy worsenning with cancer patients who sometimes end up with severe peripheral neuropathy from their treatment...
