Started on ceftin about a year ago. Did herx here and there didn't see much improvement. Doc then added doxy in Sept. that seemed to help somewhat.
HOnestly, my main symptom is left side weakness. The meds bring on fatigue, soreness and joint pain.
Went to a new LLMD in January of this year. She started me on minocycline and cat's claw and knotweed then added biaxin and flagyl pulses. I stopped the cat's claw and knotweed because I couldn't tell what was making me feel what...
I have been pulsing every other week high doses of flagyl along with the biaxin while maintaing on the minocycline. I have been staying on a strict diet (no sugar, carbs) and still wound up with thrush and yeast.
Did 2 weeks of diflucan a month ago and then started adding coconut oil. I was already taking probiotics religiously. Here I am again with the beginning of thrush after this latest pulse.
I am so frustrated and tired. I really don't see too much improvement with the weakness. I do have some good days and I do seem to herx and have fevers.
By the end of the pulse week of flagyl and biaxin I am so over the horrible taste and lack of food it does not help my mood. I know the flagyl can cause depression but it is really starting to take its toll.
Going to make an appt to see my LLMD in the next week or so and just wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts...
Thanks for listening!

Flagyl can grow yeast like crazy!!!!
See if you can add diflucan daily to your regimen.
I took it for 60 days straight, then a ten day break, then repeat.
I did this for well over a year.
Diflucan also hits Lyme.

Diflucan hits lyme? I did not know that. I have to take on each day along with omnicef and zithro or I get a yeast infection.
I didnt realize it was helping me any other way. TJC. I understand your pain. I am only into this four months and I feel so depressed adn fed up. Thinking of giving it up completely at times. See what your LLMD says..maybe they can ease it up for awhile for you.

I was speaking with another mom about a week ago. Her daughter, who is a patient of Dr. J in Ct. said that every time she sees people take breaks from abx they usually tend to regress.
My daughter has a really hard time with Flagyl. We still can't stay on it for any length of time, but she DOES stay on her other abx.
I wouldn't go off of all of my abx. This is just my opinion though.

I can't advise and you really should ask your LLMD, but off the top of my head here *is* something to ask about:
The knotweed, according to Buhner, aids the delivery of abx to the areas that they otherwise don't reach. Skin, heart, brain, joints. I am assuming it is dilating the capillaries and this is why they get delivered there. This would aid the abx's ability to kill off more bugs that otherwise hide out and which later cause relapse.
It may be a mistake to stop this, unless you are allergic to it or something like that.
As for the cat's claw, that too helps with joint issues and targets bartonella, if I understand correctly.

PS I don't know if this interests you and I believe we each must go the path we best believe in.
For myself, I have responded really well to the herbal products by Beyond Balance. I am using Bar 1 for bartonella, also left-sided symptoms fyi.
It contains cat's claw and other things to minimize herxing yet it has been very, very effective for me, with only gentle herx's along the way, and very few of those at all. It's because the formula also has liver support herbs. Some additional detox stuff may be necessary alongside.
I have done only 6 months of this product yet no longer wake up with two fingers of my left hand curled up into the palm of my hand, other neuro symptoms much improved. No stomach side effects, etc.
If it interests you I will PM you the contact info and you can ask your LLMD about it.
