Lots of things cause cancer. Like breathing the air.

Yes you have to think about benefits versus risks with flagyl. 1000/mg a day is quite a high dose.. my daughter was only able to work up to 750mg. but it helped her alot. She was told to only stay on it for 2 months and then switch to something else. Fortunately 2 months was long enough for her.

I took flagyl 250 mg 3 times per day plus high dose amoxicillin with probinecid. This way, I targeted the cyst form of lyme and the spirochete also.

I took the flagyl for 2 months. I had been on the high dose amoxi for 2 years (with a previous lyme doc) when the flagyl was added by my new lyme doc.

My herx was not bad. Lasted 1 week. 4 days sick and 3 days half sick. But, I had been on the amoxi for a long time, so I had probably gotten rid of a lot of lyme. Just needed to kill the cysts.

No, nicole, she was taking it with Ceftin and eventually dropped the Ceftin and added Biaxin. It was a good combo for her, but taking both abx she needed to do alot of detox and regular labs.

I was on 500 x 2 a day for 5 days, then 250 x 2 a day. Herxed on the 3rd day, slowly felt better, by the 2nd week felt pretty good( yesterday). Taking biaxin and cefdinir also. Herx wasn't so bad that it stopped me from doing any of my normal activities.

this is supposed to be a very good treatment. When I did an Rocephin IV, I wish my doc had given me Flagyl along with it. I think I will ask for Flagyl/Amoxi at my next Dr visit. - Good Luck!

Quite awhile ago when my doctor was looking to bust the cysts, he wanted to prescribe me flagyl but i had read some where that Alinia also worked like Flagyl but not near as nasty side effects. The reason he had not suggested it was because it is so expensive but I asked him for the prescription with hope that my insurance would cover it and it did. So, we used Alinia instead and it seemed to have worked.

I am on 1500 per day (take it 3 times a day 500 each). I was worried when I first started so started w/ one dose for a few days then was up to 1000 for a week or so before getting to the full 1500.

I have been fine on it, but I have been OK on the other drugs I am on too (Rifampin and Ceftin).

I have been on Flagyl for over 3 months. I do think the yeast issues I have now are a result of it but overall w/ the exception of afternoon fatigue I have felt fine on it.
