What would cause pain under ribs- right side? Spleen? My daughter is on IV Rocephin and has had pain in that area on and off for a week. Going to LLMD tomorrow but just wondering.

Actigall is no guarantee that gallbladder will be spared from Rocephin. I've been dealing with that pain for almost 2 years now- convinced I need my GB removed but HIDA scan was negative. May try to have GB removed anyhow!!!

I have had this pain on the right side under and at the ribs since 2007.
My gallbladder was removed in 2008.
I still have the same stabbing, relentless pain.
Probitotics & acidophilus help some.
I recommend trying to save the gallbladder. There are several foods I CANNOT eat now.
I miss broccoli the most.
I have no idea why removing my gallbladder would make eating broccoli so painful...
Btw, the final diagnosis for the pain (after they removed my gallbladder unnecessarily was "sphincter of oddi" (SOD)
After an invasive process where they stick a scope down my throat, I was told to live with SOD or have surgery.
The surgery was explained to me as very risky.
I was told at the surgical consult that 40% who opt for the surgery wind up with pancreatitis which is way more painful than what I already have. Of course, they don't deal with my pain so they are guessing that it will be worse. I have my doubts.

It could be gallbladder. It could also be IBS in your large intestine. The area you speak of (upper right quadrant) is right where your large intestine "bends" 90 degrees and goes from vertical to horizontal across your abdomen. Many people get discomfort in this area.

- I had that surgery. It DID help. I got a brief bout of pancreatitis .. wasn't bad at all, thank goodness. I do still have pain there sometimes, but some of it is due to the yeast .. at least I'm pretty sure it is.
(They saw a stone in the bile duct, so I had to have the surgery. That was 3 yrs ago.) He also clipped the end of the bile duct.

Thank you for your replies. Everyone has gone through so much!
We went to our LLMD today, were there for our weekly bandage change. Dr was very responsive and checked DD right away. Checking for cdiff first and we were told to keep diet low fat. He is keeping a close eye on the situation. DD has had digestive issues as well so it is possible that her pain is related, also her pain has gone away for now. We are going to step up detox, more Theralac and do some flushes. However if her pain returns Rocephin will have to go, which s-cks cause she has been doing a little better recently. This is only week four.
