Please help: If anyone can tell me their regimen to keep them yeast free please tell me? It seems only Diflucan works for me. I have tried Grapefruit Seed extract tablets, 250mg and still fighting this. I try watching my diet and I am only on Minocycline twice a day. Second question: What were your symptoms with systemic yeast? It makes me feel like I am dying, it consumes me inside and out. I am on Diflucan 200mg, once a day for a month for now. I know they can't keep me on this due to liver damaging but isn't there a way to throw it in every other month? Thanks for any help... Kerry

Try to get a VSL #3 DS prescription from your doc. It is a very high dose probiotic. It works really well.
Are you on the anti-candida diet?

We are trying the SCD diet (Specific Carbohydrate Diet) My daughter has also been on Diflucan for a month.
She had a severe die-off for the first 4 weeks, but just in the last day or two, seems more like herself.
Our LLND suggested Colonics 2 x week with probiotics for a month. We haven't tried it, but it is my understanding that it totally cleans out the GI tract and gets rid of the yestie beasties from many places they hide.
She is off all abx until we can get control over the yeast. I am leaning towards taking an abx break for the next several months and start working on 'terrain' health, including killing the Yeast.
Good luck!

Lyme Mom, I tried going off antibiotics while on Diflucan, as I got a little better, all my other symptoms returned full force, I could barely walk. I had to get back on Minocycline....FAST and here I am again with this beast. Can you get the cleanser at any pharmacy? BACK: I have taken PB 8 probotic and it made me crampy (pretty severe) but I will ask for that.

Sorry to hear that your symptoms returned with a vengence.
Colonics are different than say coffee enemas. Colonic hydrotherapy should be done by a professional. You might want to look online for any in your area and see how they can help.
If you can't afford the professional cleansing then I would try to do homestyle coffee enemas. They at least would kill some of the yeasty beasty's.
Best wishes!

DIET, DIET, DIET is the key. Then, be sure to follow the 5 step plan outlined below. It was developed by my naturopath. It works.
"Successful control and elminiation of a Candida Albicans overgrowth requires a multifaceted program as described below. Failure to follow ALL the steps simultaneously will result in slow progress and will lengthen healing time significantly. The program should be tailored to the individual and must balance the need to eliminate the Candida and deprive it of its food source while insuring proper nutrition for the individual."
Five Steps to Candida Elimination:
1. You must starve it into submission by eliminating its food source.
2. You must kill it with anti-fungal herbs and supplements. [e.g....garlic, onion, caprylic acid, Pau D'Arco capsules or tea, clove, grapefruit seed extract, olive leaf extract, oil of oregano, tea tree oil, Echinacea, Goldenseal, black walnut, MSM, barberry root, uva ursi, neem leaf, biotin]
3. You must reestablish the proper balance and quantity of probiotic bacteria in the digestive tract. [...multi-strain lactobacillus acidophilus and bifidus capsules with FOS should be taken between meals to maximize repopulation of the digestive tract by beneficial bacteria.]
4. You must reestablish proper levels of all B vitamins (yeast free) and utilize other immune enhancing supplements to boost immune system function. [e.g ... B complex vitamins (yeast free), biotin, beta 1-3 glucan, colostrum, maitake mushroom, vitamins A, C, E, zinc and selenium]
5. You must cleanse and heal the digestive tract to promote proper elimination of toxins and Candida and assimilation of nutrients. [e.g...chlorophyll, MSM, omega 3 fatty acids found in flax seed and salmon oils, GLA found in borage, evening primrose and black currant oils. Pantothenic acid, digestive enzymes between meals]

Thank you all! Great help If you ever went through this, you know it is hell! The most unexplainable feeling, I just wanted to die. Can I take these probotics with Diflucan?

Yeast continues to be a beast for me as well. It causes one of the worst herxes I ever experienced. To this day I still do not/did not know what was/is lyme and what is/was candidas.
I am also allergic to yeast so that would make me even more symptomatic. Black mold in the attic did not help either.
The list of symptoms is very long; flushing and weakness in arms and legs, widespread body pain, chills, sweats, headaches, eye pain, flushing sensation in head, increase in sinus issues.
Diet is not as great as it should be but I try my best. When I "cheat" and eat sugar for a couple of days I get all those symptoms back.
This is what I have slowly worked up to;
Nystatin X2-3/day CandiGone - has almsot every herb known to kill yeast - tinture and capsule form. Probiotic - 260 Billion per day - Powder Custom Probiotics. Flora Balance- Bacillus Laterosporus (BOD Strain) Ultimate Acidphilus - Bacillus Coagulans Biotin Extra Olive Extract and Oil of Oregano IgG DF 2000 Digestive Enzymes w/ C, Zinc and Selenium
I take specific herbs to help with left over toxins for the yeast die off as well. Molybdenum is a good one for that.
I recently upped my protocol and going through yeast die-off hell right now. Have one hand on the Doxy cuz it feels so much like lyme - except I got worse once I increased the candidas protocol( and starting eating sugar AGAIN!) so I am assuming it is yeast.
Never under-estimate the power of a candidas herx!!!

Desertwind: You sound just like me. It is just amazing the money we have spent for these "natural remedies" that did not work for me. As far as the herxing goes, Nystatin gave me one of the worst herxes yet did NOT stop the yeast from growing. Even 10 day of diflucan did not cut it. I still will continue to try new supplements of herbs to help with the yeast but really, what do you do? We have to stay on antibiotics. It is a vicious cycle. I told my doctor the exact same thing you said. I cannot tell what is the yeast, the lyme, the autoimmune disorder, they all have the same symptoms. I am now starting to know the Yeast signs: inside of mouth sores (thrush) constant crying (depression) cravings but this time I was craving protein ANXIETY fatigue There are so many patients out there that never had a yeast issue and never had to even change their diet. I never expected this to be easy but I feel like it is almost impossible. I blame my physician too, he never saw it, I told him that it was yeast, by that time it went way out of control. Like Lyme, left untreated....enough said. I have had more problems since treatment then before treatment for the exception of pain relief from Minocin. Thanks for all the supplements, did you ever try grapefruit seed extract? Keep me posted Kerry

Kerry; I know it is such a monster!!!!! Grapefruit seed extract is in the CandiGone product I take. For all it's worth right???!!??
I am on an abx. break right now. 5 weeks and counting. I was feeling GREAT - like my old self until I steered off of my candidas diet. I am a runner and crave carbs and then decided I was cured and endulged in some deserts. That is when it all seemed to go downhill.
So honestly I don't know if I was re-infected (on trails ALL the time!) old lyme coming back or it is yeast. I am sooo scared to go back on abx. in the event that this is all from yeast but scared not to go back on in case it is a re-infection or flare up. Damed if ya do and damed if ya don't.
I don't know if any of these things are really working - I just know when I increase them I feel worse and if I don't take them I feel even worse then if I am not taking anything.
I know what you mean about it getting out of control and feeling impossible. I get really nasty bloating and during the time that I felt great my tummy went back down to flat again - now I am like a skinny belly balloon!
I hope you manage to eventually get it all under control.

There was so much great advice given already!
I had an appt with my LLMD this morning, and my blood work came back positive for yeast so I guess it's time for me to get 'serious'!
I'm currently reading The Body Ecology Diet. I must say that it does seem like it will be a bit tough to follow, but I plan on taking this slowly with some of the recommendations.
I will obviously stop eating foods that contribute to the yeast, but I also plan on making some cultured veggies. They were highly recommended in the book so I did a bit of research online and I think the effort to do it will be worth it.
I've also added Kefir to my diet. Since I don't like the taste of it....at all! I add a small amount of organic, non alcoholic vanilla and some stevia to it. Goes down much easier that way! I started out with only a 4 oz daily and will work my way up to the recommended 8oz.
You can browse through the body ecology website as there is a lot of info on there about how the diet works. There is also an explanation on the cultured veggies.
I just bought myself a food processor and plan on making a batch of these veggies at some point this week.
