HELP! Took it off as carefully as I could. Tried not to squeeze the abdomen. Head was imbedded. After removal, I wiped area with alcohol and antibiotic cream. Saved the tick. What should my next step be? I doubt any docs around here will give abx....
Where should I ship the tick off for testing? It looks like a lone star tick.
Thanks so much, Kelan

igenex is the one to call. They will take the tick, better alive, but will take it if it died. They send a report wtih what the tick could possibly have passed along depending on the amount of time it was embedded. I think it is $55 dollars for each test.
My husband was just bitten and the doc put him right on doxy 200, 2x a day for two months. Let the babies doc know what happened and ask for an abx for him just to be sure.
