HELP! Took it off as carefully as I could. Tried not to squeeze the abdomen. Head was imbedded. After removal, I wiped area with alcohol and antibiotic cream. Saved the tick. What should my next step be?
I doubt any docs around here will give abx....

Where should I ship the tick off for testing? It looks like a lone star tick.

Thanks so much,
Kelan

UGH!! Tick testing is not all that accurate.. sound familiar??

You can PM me which state you are in and I can send you a list of drs who may help.

You might try a walk-in clinic for now if you pedi won't help.

I am sorry you found a tick on your child. It sounds like you removed it properly which is good.

Even though tick testing is not 100%, I would have it tested at IgeneX Lab http://igenex.com/Website/ The tick testing form is under "Test Request Forms" at http://www.igenex.com/files/ticktest.pdf

igenex is the one to call. They will take the tick, better alive, but will take it if it died. They send a report wtih what the tick could possibly have passed along depending on the amount of time it was embedded. I think it is $55 dollars for each test.

My husband was just bitten and the doc put him right on doxy 200, 2x a day for two months. Let the babies doc know what happened and ask for an abx for him just to be sure.
