I just discovered a hard, painful, swollen lymph node in my groin (left side). I started biaxin/plaquenil 2.5 weeks ago. Could this be a herx, a sign that my body is trying to filter out dead bacteria? Of course, I'm afraid that it might be a sign of something more serious!

And today the area around it, mainly the top of my leg, hurts. Has anyone had this happen to them? I looked it up on the internet, and it said hard lymph nodes can mean cancer. OMG!

This could absolutely be a sign that your body is trying to filter out dead bacteria. I didn't understand the lymph system until I started treating lyme.

If your body is overloaded with toxins/die off, your systems can get backed up. Swollen lymph nodes are not uncommon. The lymph system relies on stretching/exercise, lots of water, veggie/fruit juices, and even massage to keep the junk filtering through it freely.

I take A LOT of supplements and one of them is a lymph detox. I feel much better on it.

You can help your body get rid of some of the toxins naturally by sweating, detox bath (epsom salt, peroxide, and baking soda), lots and lots and lots (did I say lots) of water. Also, my dr recommended Alka Seltzer Gold. I have no idea why but when I'm having a painful day, it seems to help. Could just be the power of suggestion though!

If it worries you too much, have the dr check it out (as I am obviously not trained in the medical field) [Smile] but my best guess would be it's probably just a stressed out lymphatic system.

google lymphatic drainage and learn to understand that the toxins filter out through that system and the nutrients enter the system that way. So if it is clogged up and is crying for help in form of painful swelling, you need to take action.

In Europe you can find a lymphatic drainage therapist in every village. We have to learn a lot. Get some lymphomyosot in drops or creme and do some very, very gentle upward brushing. The lymph channels are just below the skin and no hard pressing or hard massage - avoid that!

Read up on it to help yourself! you will find plenty info on the internet.

Take care.

P.S. feel your neck just left and right under the chin bone - you will probably also find some lymph nodes there. If you can feel them like a marble, they also need help. Toxins get stuck there. in that ball, and the nutrients are blocked thereby from getting into the system.

Bridge- the brand of supplements that I take is Nature's Sunshine and it's only because there's an herbal store close to me that sells them. I don't know how they rate compared to some of the other brands.

The name of the lymph supplement is Lymph Gland Clease-HY. It contains Parthenium root, yarrow Aerial Parts, Myrrh gum, and Capsicum Fruit. I have run out of it a couple times for a couple days and each time I have started to feel more run down. So I'm convinced it's doing something good!

Thanks for the feedback. I'm hoping that this is what it is. However, I have been getting pain in the lower left abdomen going down my leg during menstration (sorry guys), but gyno says it's not reproductive, since I've had ultrasounds that only show a dermoid cyst that has remained the same size for a couple of years. So, of course, I'm panicking and thinking ovarian cancer...

Gonna wait a few days to see if it goes down, otherwise, try to get a doctor to do something (ugh..not easy).

Yes, I've had this!! One day at work I discovered a HUGE lump at the top of my groin. When I was just standing up straight, it bulged out through my loose skirt!

Thankfully I worked in a Dr's office so they examined me immediately, thinking it was likely cancer. It ended up being the size of a TENNIS ball!

I started on abx and hot hot hot baths and showers, massaging the area, and 3 weeks later surgery to have it removed to check for cancer.

I went way down in size but then it got hard. The time to be worried about hard lymph nodes is when they DO NOT hurt! If they hurt, you're still good.

I have dealt with lymphadnopathy ever since. I usually just try to run really hot water over the enlarged lymph nodes each time I shower and if they start getting bigger, start massaging them.

It is totally a Lyme thing. Well, actually, lymphadnopathy is a primary Bartonella sign!!

Don't be worried! Do some serious detoxing and you should be fine.
