My LLMD has decided to keep me on the flagyl/ketek regimen for another three months. Lately I have been herxing so badly that I could not get out of bed. So I stopped the pills for a few days and felt better....not good, but better.
Now I feel that I need to get back on to the stuff. What is a usual sort of schedule for this? It is helping my brain stuff enormously, but my glands are all swollen and I am very toxic. I do take milk thistle twice a day. My lymphedema therapist helps a lot, too. But this is tough going.
Any suggestions?

Getting those glands drained would be priority.. Either with Lymphatic massage and/or supplements like Red Root.
Red Root Dr. Sharol Tilgner, a naturopathic physician and author of the book "Herbal Medicine From the Heart of the Earth," states that red root, also known as Ceanothus americanus or New Jersey tea, is an astringent, expectorant and lymphagogue. A lymphagogue is a substance that supports your lymphatic organs and stimulates the activity of your lymph system.
Tilgner notes that red root is used to help treat lymphatic, splenic and liver congestion, enlarged lymph nodes, sinusitis, chronic post-nasal drip and mononucleosis. Red root is helpful in treating subacute and chronic conditions and can help decrease swollen lymph nodes and adenoids, or masses of lymphoid tissue at the back of your nose. Red root is a shrub native to North America that belongs to the buckthorn family, has an astringent taste and possesses drying tendencies. Practitioners of botanical medicine use the root of the shrub for medicinal purposes

I can only speak to my own experience on flagyl. I am on a 3 days on, 4 days off schedule. I didn't really herx too badly compared to most people, but my stomach couldn't handle longer pulses.
I am seeing marked improvements overall, and the flagyl definitely pushed my health in the right direction. I know that I will feel worse for three days, then have four days of feeling about 95%. I'll take the trade off for now!
Good luck! Rera2528

Thanks for the input. I put red root on my shopping list. And I no longer feel guilty about stopping the flagyl for awhile.
I just don't get why my glands are swelling even more since I stopped it Friday. I feel more lively, but my neck is a mess. We'll see what the lymphedema therapist says next week.
