'Have an abnormal EEG and my neurologist recommended that I take lamictal to prevent possible seizures. I am taking 25 mg the first week, 50 mg the second and then 100 mg.

Anyone have any experience with this drug? If so, positive/negative? Any thoughts?

As always, thanks.

I had a bad reaction to it but wasn't even up to a therapeutic dose ... possibly in part due to my fear of medicines at that time in my life (ha, look at me now).

I know someone else taking it to prevent migraines who says it works very well. That progression is very normal to help your body adjust. I hope it works for you!

It took 20 years to find out I'm not crazy.
New bite in 2010 pushed my body over the edge. Positive for lyme, babs, bart, and myco.
I am not a doctor and happily offer only my own opinions.

I'm taking it as a mood stabilizer to enhance for my OCD symptoms and depersonalization. Unto 150 mg. I have abnormal EEG showing cerebral dysfunction, but as usual, no one is making anything out of it. I don't have seizures. Good luck.

yes, I have a daughter with seizures and it works very well for her. If you get an itchy rash, stop the med and call your doc...

she hasnt had any problems with it at all.

You are on a normal new dosing regimin. that is how it is usually done.

I have heard it is a good med for bipolar as well - but if you get a rash, do not ignore it - call your doctor promptly.

I have been on Lamictal for seizures since Oct. and have had good luck with it. It took me almost 3 months to reach a theraputic level where it was working to relieve the seizures though, it is a slow drug to ramp up.

It interacts with Rifampin (found that out the hard way) and I had to stop Rifampin within a week because the seizures were starting up again. My Neurologist is going to increase my dosage before I give Rifampin a try again. Just and FYI in case you are on Rifampin or will be in the future.
