I went and saw my opthalmologist yesterday. Just a check in to look at how my optic nerves were doing.
(my optic discs are enlaged, they ruled out psuedo tumor cerebri, and neuro-opthalmologist thinks that my nerves/optic discs just naturally look this way... but wants to monitor to be sure, and this was all before Lyme diagnosis.)
Nerves/Optic discs looked the same as before, but I had a retinal hemorrhage in my right eye. She said that it should go away on its own, but she wanted to see me back in 2 months to make sure that it was going away, and that I wasn't developing any more of them.
I was told that it could be caused by anemia or high blood pressure. That it was not lyme related. I know that it can also be caused by diabetes.
I don't have high blood pressure. I normally am at about 110/70. However, I do get heart palpatations.
I know that my iron has been somewhat low, it always is.
I'm not classified as diabetic. I had an A1C done in feb and it was 5.6.
However, I'm curious... any thoughts about this being related to lyme???
I looked and couldn't find it as an adverse reaction to my abx Bicillin CR.
I've had my eyes looked at regularly, sometimes multiple times a month, but at least every 2-3 months by someone over the last year. It just seems a bit odd that my first month treating lyme and this occurs... maybe just a coincidence.

when i started clind at high dose i started getting black flaoters
opthal said all is good except if a big chunk comes off insead of all the little chunks it will be detached retina
but he didn t tell me how to stop it
i am confuced and need new opthal...but so amany other things are sick i have to deal withtthem first

My husband has had many retinal hemmorrages. You need to see a retinal specialist. There are a lot of conditions that can cause retinal disease. It is nothing to play with. My husband had a work up at the Indiana University Uvitis clinic years ago. His retinal disease is not connected with his Lyme Disease. However, I wouldn't rule it out on anyone. Ann

My sister and I both had this happen. I was first so of course they did the full work up: MRI, spinal tap, tests galore, etc. Everything came back fine.
We were both on Doxy at the time it occurred and we think it is either a rare side effect of Doxy or an allergic reaction.
Are you on Doxy?

LSG Scott, that does make sense. the blood being too thin, as anemia is a cause of this... and when anemic the blood is thiner.
I'm not on any of the things that you listed though, so nothing that I can do to prevent it.
