Finished zithro on Sat, started Flagyl yesterday. Leading up to this point I had started feeling a little worse with increasing anxiety. However, I woke at 1:30 AM with outrageous anxiety and felt hypertensive. It was the most awful feeling, I couldn't go to work today. This lasted through noontime, and oddly has subsided, thank you Lord!! I started planning a trip to the ER. Would this be considered a herx and would this happen after only 1-2 doses of Flagyl? Or is something else going on? I do have HPA axis dysfunction courtesy of Lyme and perhaps this was acting up with a burst of cortisol or thyroid? Still have the sternal discomfort, doesn't feel so good.

Crud, here it comes again washing over me. Please, please, please, don't be as bad as last time. I am now thinking hormone related. I forgot to mention that earlier when this happened I ran a low fever, which is unusual because my body temp has been very low for a long time. I have a feeling of something going down the back of my neck and then this feeling of shakiness and anxiousness wash over me.

You need to detox to relieve the symptoms. You should order some burbur, drink lots of lemon water (thru a straw) and if you can order the pekana detox kit. Flagyl is hard for some people to handle, but it can be very effective. Maybe back off on the dose..

I had a similar experience with anxiety. I've never had anxiety before and it hit like a freight train. I was told to back off and detox by my dr.

Detox baths seem to help. Not immediately but if I'm consistent with them they help.

Keep your lymph system moving. The lymphatic system is huge in detox, (google it for more intellectual language) but in laymans terms you have to move to keep the junk moving through it. You can keep it moving by stretching, mild exercise, drinking lots of water, skin brushing (with a firm bristled brush) and supplements that nourish the lymph system.

It's so miserable and you feel like you're losing your mind, I'm praying for you!

Thank you all for the detox suggestions. I drank lemon water and took a detox bath. Interestingly, after the bath the sternal discomfort went away. It did come back again at bedtime, but I actually slept much better last night...FINALLY. Upon awakening, I don't have the sternal discomfort today. I feel much calmer, not anxiety ridden. My husband brought up a point about the epsom bath and the fact that salty foods are medicinal to me. Is there a connection?
