This absolutely petrifies me. I could only watch a little of it, so I don't know what drugs were involved.

My 14 yr old grandaughter has been put on abilify, after adderral was said to not be working for her ADD.(she is a straight A student and is very active in ballet etc)

My son and daughter-in-law absolutely stone wall me when I mention Lyme disease. My DILs father passed away from late stage Lyme and her sister has been treated.

My other grandaughter has chronic fatigue syndrome. My DIL seems to think she is VERY AWARE and informed about Lyme disease, but has not gotten either of my grandchildren tested.

I am just beside myself about her being on this potent psychiatric med.

What do you do when the door is closed on these issues?

Gael

5-htp is a natural product which raises serotonin levels better than any prescription SSRIs and doesn't have any bad side effects.

Just don't expect your doctor to tell you about it.

Scott do you realize that there are kids who are so sick with Lyme/cos who are unable to get out of bed much less exercise???

It's a slap in the face to parents of sick kids for you to state that "good Lyme treatment and exercise" can "fix" depression and ADHD.

And James yes, 5HTP is an excellent supplement. But it must be administered by a naturopath or a knowledgable MD.

Gael, hugs to you. I can't imagine.

Back to the original post--this movie was heartbreaking & eye opening. A must watch for anyone who has children with NeuroLyme & Lyme Raging.

If I was saying "there's no hope" I'd simply say "there's no hope" since I have a habit of calling it like I see it. So please don't put words in my mouth.

What I am saying is that when your kid is so extremely disabled from these damn dds, getting up and going to the bathroom is like running a marathon. So exercise isn't even within the realm of reality at that point. And the best LLMDs know that.

Don't even go down the Dr. J road with me. I know him very well at this point and I suspect that you've never even met the man so don't put words in his mouth either. He has plenty of his own wise words.

Of course exercise is important but in the whole scheme of things when treating sick kids it is a just one piece of a very big jigsaw puzzle.

For you to state that "good Lyme treatment and exercise" could "fix" depression and ADHD is an oversimplification and indeed a slap in the face to parents of really sick kids.

If only it was that simple! Hey everyone, did you know that "good" Lyme treatment and exercise could fix your kids??? Geez, wish I'd thought of that.

And your statement is not only offensive to me as a parent of kids sick with LD/cos, but offensive to parents of kids who suffer from depression and ADHD.

And "good" Lyme treatment? What is that really? Oral and IV abx? Check. Supplements? Check. Allopathic and naturopathic? Check. Everything else under the sun? Check.

As a parent who knows all-too-well what it's like having had very sick kids, I can assure you that we must use every weapon in the arsenal to get them better.

And that might very well include the use of prescription drugs used judiciously under the care of an experienced medical professional.

As parents we need to be vigilant about every aspect of medical care for our children. That includes knowing about possible side effects from medications and supplements as well as possible interactions amongst them.

And obviously that means that we provide our kids with appropriate, healthy diets and opportunities for exercise when they are able.

Scott do you have sick kids? Guessing not.
